  I read here years ago that 100% boar's hair bristle brushes are great for spreading scalp oil for fine hair. I bought one year's ago and it's excellent and highly recommended for fine hair!! I'm now thinking I'd like to buy a smaller 100% boar's hair bristle brush for my cargo pants pockets. I found the one linked below (careful, the cheaper brushes have synthetic materials mixed in with the boar's hair) and it claims to be soft in the title but the actual pictures say medium.

  So are all boar's hair bristle brushes the same medium texture or are some softer than others like toothbrushes?

    Well I got that brush delivered today and like it. Nice and soft and fits in my pocket (cargo pant side pocket). Doesn't friz my wavy hair as much as other brushes do and seems durable. Worth the $23 I paid (that includes shipping).
