Hello everyone!
I just had a nostalgic moment and wanted to come see if the hyperboard was still up - in fact, I sometimes still lurk around here to see the familiar faces, and I'm glad to see a lot of them! Hello to the oldies here, you know who you are! =)
I joined here when I was 16 years old, I had started growing my hair 8 months ago at the time. Right now, it has been 15 years and 4 months cine I last had a short haircut. It's like a different life and it is so my life. I've had different styles in the meantime though I always kept my hair long.
My original goal when I joined here (which my hair still short) was knee length. Now I never got to that length however I did get to classic length and then started trimming my hair to get better ends.
Anyhow, after some cuts here and then (I did go back to just below waist length about 2 years ago I believe), I still have long hair, currently sitting around the middle of my butt. I have this plan of not cutting it at all this year as an attempt to get to classic length again but I will see! My ends are not giving me such a hard time anymore fortunately. I have started oiling my hair a bit more often and it's been easier this way, to avoid trimming. The ends are quite thinner than I would like still, however they are a lot thicker than the last time my hair was this long. So fingers crossed!
In any case I am much more relaxed about it right now. Even trimming it feels good when I have to, it's refreshing and preparing it to grow longer again.
I have to say thank you forever to this hyperboard and the people that were here when I was a regular. I felt at home and very welcome in a phase of my life where I was still very insecure. The long hair sure made me feel special in the long run, and is now a trademark of mine that has, among other things, given me work where I use my image, and that says a lot about how confident if makes me feel.
To the new faces I say: just keep letting it grow if that's what you want and what's going to make you happy. There is not a time when I'm combing my hair that I don't feel immensely proud of my perseverance in taking care of it. To most this is something very shallow and superficial. But especially when it hasn't come to you without effort, there is a reason to be proud and happy <3
And of course, you can see how it is looking. I uploaded a picture of it to my instagram recently:

I hope everyone is doing super well and that there has been a lot of personal growth as well as hair growth! And thank you to the moderators for keeping this place alive <3

Welcome back to the mlhh João David!I have to say as a moderator doing my best keeping this board up and running its nice to see guys like you who've contributed so much to the hyperboard making a reappearance:) I know there are so many other sites more up to date you could visit but you still remembered your old friends here.
I checked out your instagram pic and have to say that is an amazing image of you.Your hair looks fantastic so its obvious you take great care of it especially considering the length its at currently.Obviously too being you've maintained longhair for all those years shows how dedicated you are to the look like I am.I started my longhair journey back in my early 20s and have never looked back. Now decades later I still wear my hair long only with the twist of coloring it with henna :) So like you I've adopted the look and love it with not once ever thinking of going short again.
Thank you once again for stopping by and updating us on your status my friend. You have nothing to be ashamed of as you venture further into your adult years.Best to you always! Cheers!

Hi João David,
I looked over your Instagram photo collection. You have some splendid photos. I love the castles, cathedrals, nature, braid work, photos of you and your family. I read you live in Lisbon, Portugal and have done a lot of traveling. Portugal looks like a really beautiful place. I read a lot of Americans are looking to relocate there and from your photographs taken I can see why. How has winter been out there? I moved from New York City to a village outside of Athens, Greece. This winter so far was a very cold one with bad weather conditions compared to two years ago. What I noticed about Greece is it seems cold weather puts people in a bad mood plus holidays keep them too busy to socialize. Do you find this true about Portugal as well? I would be curious to know what products you use for your hair care? I am using a handful of good ones. I always read the labels carefully before making a purchase. Your hair is looking spectacular and would certainly give you a try on mine if you came to my area. I hope to post an update here on MLHH as I haven't done one in many years. I need to give more attention to trims as my ends can ruin progress for growth and be an extra hassle to do combing. I am focusing on trimming during midnight of every solstice. I think there is something to this based on results I am seeing.

Hello João from one of the oldies (60) with long white hair, not the best hair in the world, but a natural sign of reaction against everything that wants to take away our personalities to make us into corporate and collective beings like ants and termites.
Its refreshing to see an interest in long hair for different reasons and with different lifestyles. Sometimes, my wife reminds me that I have forgotten to brush my hair, which is rather fundamental if we are not to look like some kind of bushman! Mine grew to mid-back and stopped. Some are lucky to have more length to allow for more trimming and styling.
For me, at a philosophical level, hair is one small symbolic thing that enables us to keep a personality that others would take away to have us in the anthill of conformity and fashion. It is the greatest gift in the world to be ourselves and know ourselves. That makes us more altruistic and considerate of other people not more selfish.
To you and all on this board, have a wonderful New Year and help bring about a more human world.
Anthony
Thanks so much for stopping by with an update....your hair looks fantastic and you are a shining example to folks on the early part of their journey.

Hi Joao David!
Yes, I remember u!! (My handle was Urban Cowboy at the time u joined). Its gr8 to hear from u, and thx to Mark Hairball 4 texting me ur spectacular pic!!!! I no longer own a computer at home, so Ive not been very regular at even lurking recently; but I still love MLHH, and what it stands for, as well as have fond memories of having met many people (including meet-ups in person) here. Keep it growing and flowing and yes, my own hair is still long (just older and unfortunately thinner - LOL)!!

Wow, it's great to hear from you again. You are the person who convinced me to grow my hair long, a life long dream of mine. Throughout my journey, I remember trying to compare my progress with yours, regularly referring to your website. Like you, my goal has always been knee length, but now, I'm kinda stuck at waist....which is still pretty good. I'm happy that you have been able to reach classic and that you're trying to reach it again....and possibly even more. I hope I'll be able to reach this milestone also!
Hi João,
What a pleasant surprise to see you stop on by to visit the hyperboard, and welcome back! Thank you for checking in with your progress report, and for letting us know how you're doing. I'm glad that all is well, and your hair looks superb as well.
I first joined the hyperboard back in late 2006, and remember you as one of the "regulars" here, in the early stages of your hair growing journey. Things were quite lively on the hyperboard back then, and it's good to see some of the "old timers" stop in to greet you.
Please keep in touch with our community more often, and my best to you and yours.
All the best,
David
Hi João David,
It's great that you dropped by! Your updates used to be highlights for all of us at MLHH. I always enjoyed the effort you put into them and how inspirational they were! I remember you often posed with your sister as well. Does she still have long hair?
Your hair's current length is certainly amazing especially because of its thickness near the ends. I gave up on my last attempt to go for terminal length due to the damage to my fine hair that really showed at the ends. I've been envious of the coarse texture of your hair that helps it stand up to more than mine.
Your physique is also impressive and goes well with your long hair.
Best,
Jason
Little Bird Long Hair - the person who inspired me to grow out my hair all of those years ago! Recently was just wondering how or where you were... and then boom!... there you are ;p ! Your hair is looking as wonderful as always ^^ !... always have been impressed :) . Looked at your Instagram and it looks like you bulked up since the last time I saw you (many, many years ago) - which kind'a surprised me because you were quite slender way back when ;p . Ah, how times change and as some have said - don't fret too much about getting older. I'm ahead of you by quite a few years and have come to realize that there is nothing one can do about it... might as well just embrace it for the ride :) . Anywho, great to see you once again and hope that from time-to-time, you might lurk a little bit less ^_~ heheh. Cheers, my friend ^_^ ~
Hi João,
good to hear from you! When I was short haired, I found your pictures and videos very inspirational. And as you can imagine, I just couldn't wait to grow my hair long. Now I have long hair too, at about standard length and I love it.
The way you write about your hair, that it's your trademark and that it has given you work, sounds like having long hair is rewarding for you in many ways.
Keep it growing :)
Cheers!
You look great
