Around here in the US of A we have thousands of people protesting the stay at home order. They want to be able to go to the beach, go golfing, go for a haircut, etc.
What these people don't realize is people are encouraged to stay home to stop the spread. In the US of A we've now had more people die of COVID 19 than died in the entire Vietnam War. for many with underlying medical issues it's a matter of life and death.
[full disclosure: my wife has underlying medical issues and my father in law is in a rehab facility having a positive COVID 19 test.
For a number of people this shut down is a temporary inconvenience, in a month they'll be able to get a haircut and do other stuff in the coming months. On the other hand we've got thousands who have died and will never get the chance to partake in the activities these thousands of protesters are want to do.
It'S a question of priorities. My father in law is proof that COVID 19 is not a hoax.
[Addendum: our local Wal-Mart has jut been shut down for a deep cleaning after an employee died of COVID 19. Also people are traveling to states like Maine to get their haircuts only to be told they'll only serve Maine residents and that out of state people have to self quarantine for 14 days. }
An update on this: the rehab facility that my father in law is in has 56 COVID 19 cases, 5 deaths, and 17 employees testing positive.

Hi LHIA,
Sorry to hear about your father in law being tested positive for Covid19.From what I've heard though the Governor of NY mandated Covid patients be admitted to nursing care facilities where the most vulnerable population lives placing those individuals in grave danger.Not sure if that also included rehab facilities but that particular move by the Governor was not a good one.

what usually ends up happening is 8 year old Johnny goes outside and plays with friends, gets the COVID19 virus, brings it home to mom, gets mom infected then mom brings it to the several nursing homes she works at. At the facility that my Father in law is at there are a number of employees infected.
Below is a link about the state mandate which was probably a bad idea but it should be noted that they wanted to clear as many hospital beds aa possible since they were expecting to be inundated with new patients so much so that they opened up emergency hospitals in Central Park, in convention centers, college dorms, etc. It also should be noted that many hospitals went so far as to set up tents and trailers outside of the hospital to hold COVID patients.
Now it should be noted this isn't over by a long shot. Now that a number of states are re-opening expect a second wave of the virus. And next winter expect a third wave that is coupled with the seasonal flu.
NYBefore this gets out of hand I would recommend bringing this conversation over to social media such as facebook.I already see this turning into an endless disagreement that doesn't belong here.On a final note as a country we can't continue on this road indefinitely.Cheers.

Hi(gh)!
For the average "normal", regularly cutting her/his hair seems to be almost as vital as buying food... in leading German online newspapers (Zeit, Spiegel, FAZ) on many occasions, the shutdown of hairdressers was complained! I never understood the whole concept of keeping scalp (and facial!) hair short...
COVID-19: here in Germany, two recent outbreaks flared up in the meatpacking industry... as meat is supposed to be as cheap as possible in Germany, these factories are very often brutal sweatshops, occupying mostly badly underpaid workers from Eastern Europe, who live in overcrowded temporary shelters, where the virus spreads easily. I'm about to go vegetarian... (not vegan, but consequently meatless)
See you in Khyberspace!
