Hello.
Ive been growing my hair out for around 1y now. It´s getting to my shoulders. However, it is so thick and sturdy, I have this enormous amount of hair on my head, and it doesnt look that good. I always wear it in a bun, it looks pretty good like this. But I want to wear it open so bad! Do I have to be more patient till it gets longer or is my hair just not made for being long...
Your advice would be appreciated.
Degen,
You needn't think that thick hair won't be suitable to wear long. After one year your hair is probably about six inches (~15CM) long; if you'll be patient, you'll find that at a longer length you can do more with it, plus by then you'll have more experience dealing with it and taming it. My hair is more than twice that length, and it is thick, and I'm really just starting to learn how to make it look how I want it. It may be that you'll ultimately want to visit a hairdresser and get some shape put into it, layers of various lengths to make it more manageable. (Some in this group will think this advice borders on heresy, but...)
Enjoy your thick hair!
Don
I always envy people like you with thick strong hair. You could grow it very long and still look full and lush looking. These first few months of grow-out it may be a bit messy, but soon the weight of your hair will slant the growth direction down and it will probably look terrific. Just don't ever be swayed by the hair grinches into cutting it short again.
