Hi! During COVID I decided to start growing out my hair. Something Ive been wanting to do for many years. How long should I go?
Greetings Andrew,
Thanks for posting your picture of what sounds like a new hair journey for you.I know with all the lockdowns earlier last year it was impossible to go to salons and such which obviously gave many people the opportunity to grow out their hair unless they cut it themselves. From what I can see, other than whats obstructed, your hair looks to have much potential at a longer length. If I were you I'd continue growing it longer and see how you like it at an increased length.Has anyone commented on your hair pro or con? Regardless its your choice but I'd say go for it! Cheers

Thanks Mark. Feedback has been surprising positive. I was expecting a lot of you know the barbers are open again or when will you cut it?! But I havent had much of that at all (if any!). So thats all good, I guess Im approaching the end phase of the awkward stage. Maybe Ill go for shoulder blade length - lets see. Time will tell.
Hi Andrew, that's cool to hear your not getting any of those negative comments but at least you had an excuse to start growing out your hair due to the lock downs.I think your hair looks great so far and that little pony tail on top looks awesome!I like you initial goal of shoulder blade length as once you reach that length then you can make the decision to go longer if you choose.Great job my friend! Cheers

I would mention that even though barbers are open doesn't mean it safe to go. You've got too many who aren't wearing masks or aren't wearing them properly. And then there is room ventilation. If you're positive for COVID 19 and sit in front of an air conditioner you're infected the entire room. If you have people singing/yelling/having a loud discussion they're spreading COVID 19 to the entire room.
[Full disclosure: my wife has COVID 19 and is in the hospital., My father in law died of COVID19 in October. COVID 19 is real, it's not a hoax, it's not just the flu. Here the highest death rates for those age 18-29.)
I would say go as long as you want to.
Hi
Nice to see new people converted to longhairs!
I consider that someone are a longhair when hair are at least shoulders length.
You can already do a little bun. The next step are ponytail and with longer length braids and various hairstyles.
And most important, ignore people that says cut it.
The only positive thing with these lockdowns is that we could have more people with long hair.
Thanks :) fingers crossed Ill be considered a longhair soon! Watch this space.
Hey there. Great looking hair and nice color. Where are you located? How old are you? It seems that your hair is very healthy and strong so it should be easy to get some significant length.
Gday Tony, Im 37 and from Australia. Thanks for the kind words.
Hi Andrew,
First of all: your hair looks EXCELLENT!!
Secondly, re. how long you should grow it: just think of the whole experience as an "adventure" or a discovery process -- only you can answer that question for sure.
In my humble opinion, if I were in your shoes, I'd grow it as looooooong as possible. If the length starts bothering you before you achieve what's commonly called "terminal length", by all means trim it.
The first time I grew my hair out, I tried various different hairstyles until 9 years later, I arrived at waist-length. The longer I grew it, the more I liked it!
In June of 2000, I impulsively cut my hair short -- and deeply regretted that decision. That's when I made a commitment to growing it back AND KEEPING IT LONG... Of course there are situations that might be out of my control (like: an accident or an illness or some crazed evil guy shaving my head against my will); but, in general, it's highly unlikely that I'll ever go back to having short hair again.
Take care, have fun with your long hair journey, and Welcome to MLHH!
