I've pretty much experimented with long hair as far as it will go. I never achieved terminal length but did grow it to belt length at one point. Now I keep it somewhat shorter.
A couple of months ago I decided to try something new - growing out my beard. I know a few members here have tried this. So far I'm liking it. Although I'm curious about its potential terminal length, I don't think I'd ever grow it that long but we'll see.
Here it is at around 2 months of growth.

Here's where my hair is at currently. I like this length.
I've also tried to grow bread, but I haven't a very dense one.
I let it grow for about one year and after trim a little. I don't know if it's just a feeling, but I found that bread grows slower than hair.
I would like to have a big bread, but it seems impossible.
Hi Jason,
Interesting that you should mention growing your beard out, because I'm going through the same experience, as well as facing the same decisions you mentioned. Especially since during this Pandemic, wearing face masks is a requirement where I work, nobody's going to even notice my beard getting gradually longer & longer -- at least in the beginning stages.
Yeah, just like when I first grew my hair out, since I had never successfully done that before, I had no "guarantee" how I'd ultimately feel as my hair gradually arrived at longer and looooonger lengths.
It's a "journey", as they say, a part of living life and tasting different experiences that interest or intrigue us. Just day-dreaming about trying something new like that is no comparison to real-life DOING of something -- whether it be travel to far away places, taking classes to learn a new job skill or pursue & improve on a favorite hobby, OR... growing our hair and beard out!
Hi Ken,
Yes, it's a journey and it makes life more interesting to try new things and experiences. Especially during the pandemic when I'm working solely from home, I figured why not give growing my beard a try?
That is interesting that you're also growing out your beard. Would love to see some photos of your progress if you get a chance. I believe you achieved terminal length for your hair. Do you think you'll go all the way with your beard? Honestly, I don't see myself going that far but we'll see.
Always good to hear from you Ken. Stay safe!
Best,
Jason
Hi again Jason,
And you stay safe, too!!
No, I doubt very much that I'll grow my beard to terminal length; but on the other hand, originally I had never planned to grow my hair as long as it is now, either... "terminal length?" When I was in my late 30s (when I first started growing my hair with simply the goal of "ponytail length"}, I had never heard the term terminal length. By the time I hit my 40th b-day, successfully achieving my first ponytail, I knew I wanted to grow my hair a bit longer... The rest, of course, is history!
We'll see regarding the beard; but, for sure, I'll keep growing it as long as I'm still enjoying it -- there's no point continuing if it becomes too much of an annoyance or a burden.
Later,
Ken
Looking great Jason! That beard will compliment your hair nicely!
