Hi all,
Maybe we could boost activity by us posting one or two of our hair photos that showcase our hair. These could perhaps serve as inspiration for the group. I'll post a couple from quite a few years ago. My hair is not currently as long as this.
I'll post a current hair photo at some point in the not too distant future.
Jason

This was probably my hair at its longest. I never have been able to definitely determine my terminal length.
Hi Jason,
Its always good to hear from anyone in the old crowd, and like you, I havent been around much these days, but still lurk in the background.
I just turned 72 a couple of months back, and happy to have a reasonably full head of hair. Its also more or less at terminal length, somewhere between mid back and waist length or so.
Ill do my best to get some sort of selfie photo taken in the next few days and post it to this thread. Im not good at taking selfies, and although I took one fairly recently, I wasnt happy with the expression, so I will try to get a better one. I just use my iPhone to take photos, so will need to find a way to reduce the file size before including it.
I hope all is well with you and your family.
Best regards,
David
Hi David,
Great to hear from you and hope everything is going well. My family and I are well, thanks.
That's awesome that you've kept your hair as you approach 72. I'd definitely enjoy seeing an update photo.
Take care,
Jason

Hi Jason,
Heres a photo that I just took, selfie mode. Im not good at taking photos, so please excuse any weird expression, and I should say that my hair always looks blonder when taken with my phone. The phone is merely intended to show my current length only, and it eas difficult holding the phone far enough back to show all the hair in the photo.
I hope that this works.
David
David, I'm so impressed with your hair! I believe that has to be the longest it has ever been and it's still so thick!
That's very impressive and sure to be an inspiration for others as well. Born longhairs tend to be longhairs regardless of age. I hope to be rocking the look you have when I'm in my 70s.
It's good to connect with you here at MLHH again.
Hi Jason,
Thank you so much for your kind words, and Im quite pleased with how the photo turned out. I did have to use a program to reduce the photo size, and the dimensions of the photo dont exactly match what was on my phone. The hair was washed yesterday, and my normal routine is to wash it every 5 days or so. With our summer and early fall being very dry, the humidity has been quite low, hence my hair being fairly straight in thus photo.
Im looking forward to your latest update as well!
Best,
David
Hi David, it's been awhile but always great to see the old team posting from time to time.I was taken aback by your hair pic as that's fantastic length, color, and texture for a youngster such as yourself.Hoping all is well with you in retirement as I too retired last year so now a man of leisure as well.Don't be a stranger and let's do more of this.Cheers
Mârk aka Hairball
Hi Mark,
Thank you so much for your kind words, and congrats on your retirement as well. Im glad to see that youre maintaining your long hair, and as Jason noted, you have become quite the expert with henna. The colour is excellent!
My hair is still its original colour, although the iPhone does make it appear somewhat lighter than it actually is. I wouldnt mind if could grow it longer, but I am quite happy with its current length and thickness.
This is the only site that I still keep an eye on from time to time, or post any photos. I used to post on the LHC, but havent post there for at least 10 years. I dont do Facebook, X, TikTok, or any of that stuff either, but I do have a YouTube channel mainly highlighting my clock collection.
Im glad that Jason started this thread, and I hope that we more old timers post their photos as well.
Take care,
David
Cool dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!

Hi Jason and David as well! Great idea suggesting posting some hair pics as isnt that one of the things mlhh is all about to inspire by example?! I cant even remember the last time I posted a fresh pic so Ill dig one up and show it.Ive concluded Im at terminal length for awhile now as Id say shoulder blade length is it for my at this point in my life. Aside from that things are looking up for some big improvements to the mlhh but will keep that under my hat for the time being. Hoping all is well with all our current members and that your hair journeys are meeting your expectations. With summer over now its time to gear for the fall season and yes, the holidays! Cheers
Mârk aka Hairball

Ha ha, one of the quirks of the mlhh so Ill repost my pic in proper perspective. Cheers
Thanks for the update with a recent photo. You've certainly mastered using henna and it's been a great look for you.
Hi Jason, yes its been a long time since I posted a current hair pic and still doing the henna too! I believe its now been close to 15 years that I've been doing the henna. It's so second nature for me to do the treatments since I've been doing them for so long.Looking forward to a current pic from your in the future.I saw David's pic and was blown away!
Mârk aka Hairball

I like this photo because it shows my hair well; it is longer now and I do have a new photo but it is with a dark shirt and hard to see so clearly. Maybe I will try to take a more-current photo.
I've been a long time lurker (and occasional poster) here for years! I miss a lot of the old names... Jin, Jao David, Ed G, Ken (Urban Cowboy)... Many more that aren't coming to me now. I am working full time, living on my own finally and managing my autism. My long hair keeps me happy and I will never change it!
All the best to you all!
Hi Todd,
Thank you for the update, and Im glad that everything is working out so well in your life. The hair looks good, and you have excellent length. It would be great if you could get a more recent photo posted if you have the chance, since you mentioned that its somewhat longer now.
Its ironic about the shirt colour. I have to do the exact opposite, since my hair is light in colour and the phone camera makes it appear even lighter, and therefore I have to opt for a dark shirt rather than a light one.
All the best,
David
Hi Todd,
Thanks for sharing your photo. That's some very impressive length for sure! Looking forward to your next update.
Jason

I finally took some update photos today.
Hi Jason,
Thank you for your update photos! Your hair looks superb, and Im impressed by the thickness, colour, and a very nice, natural wave. It looks as though youre getting equally as nice weather as weve been getting here.
Thanks for sharing, and best regards,
David
Thanks David. It was kind of fun to take a few hair photos again. It had been ages since I had done so. Haha, you probably recognize my yard which has been a convenient venue to take them for so many years. I know we took some when you visited Amanda and me when we lived in Arlington, MA but I don't think we took any when you visited my current home.
The weather has been terrific allowing me to do lots of cycling. I'm thinking you're still out playing golf?
Hi Jason,
Oh, yes, I remember that yard well.. I also remember the place where we took the first set of photos as well.
I seem to recall that when I visited you the second time, and met Amanda, that we went out to lunch, then we went to some sort of park nearby, and I recall that we took some photos.
Our weather has been wonderful, but the concern is that its far too dry. Rain events have been few and far between, and people are praying for rain. Its really unusual to have it that dry in Nova Scotia, and even into the fall as well. There are a number of forest fires burning as well.
Im still golfing around 3 days a week or so, but am a bit less enthusiastic about the game than I used to be.
Best,
David
Hi Jason,
I recall more correctly that the yard in your photos was indeed the yard where we took the first set of photos, as well as memories of a Bartlett pear tree which was in that yard. I assume that you still own that first place.
I cant recall actually visiting the place that you live now, but I do remember Amandas place, and on the third visit, prior to your wedding, that we had some sort of evening get together at a place nearby. We didnt take any photos there at the time, and there was quite a crowd there. One of the people who used to post on the MLHH was there as well, as well as at your wedding.
David
It's a little confusing because Amanda and I moved away from the place I own for 2 years. You visited us there as well as where I own my home. There were also the times that we saw each other around my wedding which took place in central Massachusetts.
It's good to hear that you're still keeping up the regular golfing even if maybe not at quite same level of enthusiasm. I'm hoping that means that your health has been excellent. I actually had to be treated for prostate cancer last year having a prostatectomy on 10/21/2024. It took me a few months to recover but since late June I've regained my health and have ridden many miles on my bike as well as other activities. We should definitely treasure the health we have especially as we get older.
Hi Jason,
Naturally, Im sorry to hear that you were faced with prostate cancel, but great that you got it cleared, and that youre doing so well now. Both my Dad and Grandfather had prostate cancer, and their outcome wasnt as good.
Fortunately, my health has remained good. Im not into cycling or running, but walk regularly, and I am fortunate that there is a nice, paved, walking trail that runs right by my home. I live for that trail, especially during the winter months, and try to walk about 10 miles a day or so.
Take care,
David
Hi David,
I'm sorry to hear that your father and grandfather were so negatively affected by prostate cancer. My father and maternal grandfather both died of it so I've had to be extremely proactive in screening for it on myself with PSA tests starting at age 41. They think the they caught it in time so I'm hopeful. I'll have to have regular PSA tests to make sure it doesn't come back.
That's awesome that you're still walking 10 miles a day! I'm very impressed. No doubt that has contributed to your continuing good health.
Best,
Jason
Hi Jason,
Congratulations to you for your course of action, and for doing the right things to keep this from getting out of hand. Similar to you, I lost both my father and in my case, paternal grandfather, to this condition.
Im not sure, but I wonder if the fact that I continue to take a propecia tablet every day has had a positive effect in keeping this away from me for now, since it does lower testosterone levels in the blood, which is supposedly one of the factors leading to prostate cancer. At times I wonder whether I should even be bothering to take it, since my hair is decent, but I havent noticed any ill effects, and the cost is fairly reasonable, so theres no drawback in my mind for continuing to do as Ive been doing.
Best,
David
Hi Jason,
Great update pic of your hair as I can tell its a tad shorter than how I remember but its amazingly thick all the way to the ends. Some of us are very fortunate as we get older the hair is still full with minimal thinning.I'm guessing your son is still keeping his hair long? If so what length does he like to maintain? Got to love longhair throughout the family!Hope you had a great weekend as the weather has been fabulous.Cheers.
Mârk aka Hairball
Hi Mark,
Thanks! Yeah, I've been getting yearly trims of several inches. My last one was back in April. I might trying growing it longer again. I don't plan any trimming for a while anyways.
Yep, my son has never been in a barber shop and doesn't plan to ever go. My wife usually trims his hair when she does mine. His is actually longer than mine right now. It's interesting because it seems more and more boys including some at his school are growing their hair long.
Every day I count how fortunate I am to have been spared any MPB. I'm hoping I've passed my genes onto my son. He's only 13 so we won't know for a few years. Especially as we get older we can be thankful to still have our hair.
Best,
Jason
Hi Jason,
Sounds very encouraging about your hair as well as your son.I tend to agree as I do see more guys with long or longish hair nowadays maybe with the exception of the gym I go to.Most guys there are either shaved heads or regular men's style cuts.Still there are a handful of longhairs.Funny though as there are all age groups represented there and I've seen some older men with longer hair.Bet the grew it out after they retired! LOL. Fortunately I never had to deal with that during my working career.

Hi,
Today at the fun fair during my lunch break. It's not open, they are still installing the rides.
That's a great look! Thanks for sharing.

It's been some time...
Here's mine, visibly aged between 2010 & 2025 :).
Hi Jin,
Its great to see you back, and posting. I remember you from way back, right around the time that I started posting on the hyper board, around 2007 or so.
Your hair looks superb, and looks to be in top notch condition, and I really like your natural silvers as well.
Thanks for checking in!
David
Hi David,
Great seeing all the old-timers still posting, and it looks like this website hasn't changed for 20+ years, since I first posted in 2002 ;).
Keep on rocking your long hair!
Hi Jin,
It's great to see you here again! It's true that your hair has silvers in it but that's a cool look. Your hair has maintained its thickness and long length as well.
Thanks for sharing.
Jason
Hi Jason,
Thank you for starting this track as a wonderful platform for me to "comeback".
I am happy to see all of you having great long hair!

I like this idea! As you can see my hair is currently quite long, hitting the bottom of my belly button in the front. I'm getting close to my goal length, which is down to the bottom of my belt in both the front and the back. I plan on posting more frequently here, on social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube etc.) Now that my hair is so long!
Hi Erik,
Your hair is superb, and the fact that it is straight is the easiest type to grow super long. You should have no problem meeting your goal.
I dont do either Facebook or Instagram, but I do have a YouTube channel focusing on my clock collection. I have seen your YouTube channel (Onward and Downward), and was wondering whether you were still growing your hair since it has been some time since youve updated over there. Im glad to know thats not the case, and that youre still growing it.
Keel up the good work!
David
Thank you so much for the kind words! My goal is to make an update video after work today, but it depends how exhausted I am after work LOL. How long is your hair now?
Hi Erik,
Thats cool that you will be making another video on YouTube, and I just hit the subscribe button as well, so I will get the notification when you post new videos.
I did post a photo further down on this same thread, so you can get an idea of its current length, somewhere between mid back and waist length, an inch or two shorter than yours, and not as thick as yours either. However, I turned 72 a few months back, so Im quite happy to have a decent head of hair for my age. Im quite sure that my hair is at terminal length, although there are times that I think it could be a bit longer than a year ago. It could just be wishful thinking, though, lol.
David
Hi David,
I tried to find your YouTube channel but was unsuccessful. Could you please post a link? I'd like to check it out.
Thanks,
Jason
Hi Jason,
My YouTube channel isnt about hair, although I have subscribed to two or three long hair channels, including Eriks channel that he mentioned.
The name of my YouTube channel is Davids Clocks, and Ill try to post a link here.
https://www.youtube.com/@davidsclocks7881
Over the years, I have amassed a large collection of antique clocks, so all the videos are brief ones showing the clocks in action. The majority of them are cuckoo clocks. I havent acquired any new ones for a few years, though, mainly because I dont have room for any more, lol.
I hope that the link I posted above works.
David
That's quite an impressive collection of clocks David! I think you had mentioned a while ago that it was Justin who had first piqued your interest in this hobby. That's cool that you've been able to have such a variety of these clocks.
Hi Jason,
Thank you for your kind words. Im no good actually working with clicks, as Justin used to be, but I do enjoy hearing and seeing them in action.
Speaking of Justin, I havent heard from him for years, and the email that I had for him no longer works. I heard from someone that he had moved to Florida a few years back, since he wasnt all that happy in Oregon, but I have no confirmation that is true. His YouTube channel, Musique3579, mainly dedicated to his musical composing, with a few hair posts from the earlier days, hasnt had any new posts for over 5 years.
David
Wow Erik! Your hair is nothing short of stunning - both its length and thickness. Thanks for the update. It's definitely a source of inspiration!
Thank you! You were actually a huge inspiration to me when I first started growing my hair, so thanks for being that for me! Do you think you'll ever grow your hair as long as or even longer than it ever got?
