"Most of us who post on the Buzzboard do, certainly, like short hair
- on themselves or others. And there ARE many of us who are gay, probably about half[!!] But most of us are NOT judgmental about guys with long hair, and absolutely respect the rights of ANYONE to wear his hair the way he wants.
I realize that some of you have posted there, and gotten blasted; but you've had many defenders, including myself. I believe there should be harmony between both groups - which is why I made this post." ~BuzzCT
....Whew! Congrats for having the guts to even say anything like that!
...I don't think I should believe it though...
...cause my self-preservation instincts are quite strong : )
I don't know why, but a lot of "official" gays sport the shaved head. I am talking about people who admit themselves that they are gay.
I attend a music college which, by nature, has a very large and vocal gay popular. And of all the gay males I know who are out, only one has long hair. And I agree that many have the shaved head look. I'm only including those that have come out in this (no assumptions or anything). Incidently, the longhaied gay guy has some of the nicest hair I've seen on anyone, male or female.
Gays often take great interest in fashion. The mullet is less likely to be worn by most gays. I don't know much about fashion but shaved heads and punk seem to have a connection. I had a shave head for the last ten years and only the last five years has it become extremely popular. What surprises me is how few school kids have long hair. When I get on a bus perhaps only one other person will have long hair. Short hair and shaved head are still very, very popular with everyone. I am I little curious. I am the only one at work with long hair (shoulder length) and wear it down.
dude,
Don't you think that there a "few" gay guys here, too?
Seems to me that 1/ 2 isn't far off....

what possible constructive outcome can this conversation have? neither board (buzzboard or this one) is about sex, or meeting people. both forums (fora?) are about guys hair. the focus here is long hair and the focus there is short hair cuts... NOT about sexual orientation. so a portion of the participants at each board are gay... SO WHAT?
Yeah, it isn't easy to realize you're gay. I did so much later in life, yet it's still a hard life in many ways. Luckily, I have two grown kids - one of whom knows, and is very supportive. (By the way, he wore his hair to his waist in his late teens [He was living with me] and I never gave him the slightest hard time about it.)
Thanks for the support, though. Most people think of gay guys as 'sissies.' In fact, it takes a LOT of bravery to be gay!
No, it doesn't take any more bravery to be gay than straight.
But it takes a lot of bravery to come out to others, and be open, and be proud of youself. Your post shows your bravery. Very nice.
