Good morning everyone,
It's been about 2 weeks since my last post, thought I'd make an update. Still on the path, alternating between feeling like I am making some progress and feeling like it's taking forever :) Not much growth since last time, but this is my hair freshly washed. Just as an experiment I've been trying egg-washing my hair once per week. It sounds strange, but it seems to work pretty well for me. Anyone else ever tried it?
Hope everyone has a great week!

Philip
Hi Philip,
You’re actually doing very well, and at least some parts of your bangs are getting below your eyes now, so soon you will be able to either part in the middle, or slightly to the side, your choice, just one further step on the journey. Since hair only grows ½ inch per month on average, patience is definitely a virtue, but it will get there. The main thing is that you have great hair for growing long, it’s good and full, and you have straight hair, the easiest type to grow long.
Your beard is progressing nicely as well.
Sorry, I’ve never tried egg washing, just plain old shampoo and conditioner for me, but maybe someone else can chip in and add their thoughts.
I look forward to your future updates!
David
Thank you, David! The waiting is a test of patience, but I am starting to feel like a bit of a longhair, which is nice. That feeling will only increase with every week and month that passes.
I usually keep my beard quite short but I am finding that it looks okay bit longer with my longer hair. Makes me look a little shaggy right now, but I kind of like that look, especially outside of work. On that note, I think most of my co-workers have gotten used to the idea now that I am growing my hair out. They are used to seeing me with ½" long hair, but I think thus far their reaction has been either encouraging or at least neutral. I work at a library so it's a low-risk environment for personal expression and hair growing :)
The weekly egg wash seems like a pretty good reset for my hair, it leaves it clean and conditioned. Still, it's a bit strange, so I'll just think of it as an experiment I am doing while my hair grows.
Thanks again for your words of encouragement, I'll post some new updates in a couple/few weeks.
Philip
Hi Philip,
Your hair is looking great for where you stand at this juncture but patience is key as growing your hair just takes time. You just have to stay motivated and resist any urges to make rash decisions if you start to feel your not exactly happy with where you are at a given moment. You'll get there and when you do the journey will have been well worth it my friend.Cheers.

Thanks Hairball! As my hair gets longer (5-millionths of a mm longer every second, according to my calculations) I am feeling happier and happier with it. I am just so excited to be growing my hair long again - should have done it sooner! Thank you for the encouragement!
Philip
Nope, never tried it.
What's your length goal?
My hair made it to ankle-length without using eggs.
Good experiment.
Do you have pictures of your long hair too?
My goal right now is to get it shoulder-length all the way around. I think that's probably my ideal length, but I've had it down to my mid-back in the past and I might aim for that length again once I get to my shoulders.
Yeah, I am not sure about the eggs. I stopped using shampoo or conditioner years ago even with my very short hair - I just water-washed my hair every day - but now that I am growing it longer I feel like it occasionally needs something too keep it clean and conditioned, and I am a bit ambivalent about going back to shampoos or conditioners, so yeah, it's an interesting, if not a bit strange, experiment :D
Be true to you and nobody else.

Hi Cicero,
Wow, that’s one fantastic braid, very impressive ! You have clearly been blessed by the “hair gods”!
David
Thank you, David.
I'm not blessed. I just refuse to be oppressed.

Hi Cicero,
Very impressive, and excellent thickness. I wish that I had your hair genes!
Thank you for sharing. ( You should post this photo under your own thread, since many of our members wouldn’t realize that you had posted this under Philip’s thread, and would miss it otherwise.)

I'm not seeking recognition. That's an old photo. I'll post it in a new thread if you think it might inspire others to keep on growing long, though. Let me know. That photo was about 20 years ago. I have many photos of my hair journey. Back then, long hair for men was frowned upon. Not so much these days, but maybe. I don't know anymore because it doesn't matter as much to me anymore. I did my thing. I achieve my personal terminal length. My hair hit my ankles and stopped growing. My hair is now waist-length. Sitting on my hair got old after a while.
Hi Cicero,
Excellent, and you do have some good points. One thing of interest that I’ve noticed lately is a tendency for more men to grow their hair in my city, and this is nothing to do with those who started growing during Covid either. I walk a trail close to my home several times a day, and as recently as a year or two ago, I could go for a week or more without seeing another guy with long hair. Now, I’m seeing multiple long haired guys every day, and sometimes, several on one walk. There are quite a few older guys with long hair as well, including a guy who will be 73 in July, started growing his 3 years ago, and now has hair that is probably longer and definitely thicker than mine. He wears it in a ponytail, so I can’t say for sure as to the exact length, but he has a flawless hairline, and his hair is very wavy. I only see him once a month or so, though.
David
Sound advice, and what an impressive braid - amazing hair!
