Hi(gh)!
Finally I have lost enough weight to no longer hide a double (or even triple) chin behind my “talibeard”… so I made quick work of it and left only the mustache:

I hope to soon get some additional pictures showing me in my “natural environment” online here…
Ditching the long silvery beard was quite a relief - I got sick of the constant “Santa Claus!" comments in public! And I think this also signals a departure from my decades-long obsession with Afghanistan as a role model for personal aesthetics in appearance… my white pakol might well block oppressive summer sun, but I think a white (faux) leather durag, preferably with waist-long tail, will perform as well. Generally, “leather” is the keyword for my future style!
See you in my swamp!

Hey there Yadger,
First off congratulations on the weight loss as that alone will help your health as you get older just like all the rest of us.I do hear you about the beard as I used to support a sort of “mountainman” style beard for many years until I got tired of it and shaved it back considerably. Of course mine would be gray also but I colored it to cover that up.The main thing is that your still sporting the longhair so awesome. I'd love to see more images showing its true length when you get around to it.Great to hear from you as the mlhh takes on its new life in its new format.Cheers.

I wonder how people might react to my new look - I'm in Germany, where full beards of any length are near omnipresent, but mustaches, especially in combo with long hair, have faded into obscurity decades ago…
Do long hair guys are common in Germany? I ask this because in France it's very common for a few years, the most common hairstyle is a bun.
Beards are also common.
Long hair has never really disappeared from Germany since the late 1960s… but beards (full beards, not solo mustaches) are virtually everywhere! What saddens me a little is that most German longhairs wear their hair maximally tied up, not just as ponytails (which were very popular in the 1990s), but as buns - as if male long hair was something that needs to be radically disciplined! Men with (open) long hair and solo mustaches are something which exists only as a faint memory from the 1970s… think Leslie Mandoki or Peter Bursch ("the nation's guitar teacher")!
Hi Yadgar,
My hearty congratulations to you for losing so much weight, and you’re looking awesome here. To have or not have a beard is a personal preference, and despite my thick, silvery white beard, I’ve never had to deal with Santa Claus comments, because it isn’t particularly long. You look great without the beard here.
Your hair looks fabulous, and you seem to have a great hairline as well. I was wondering how long your hair is now? Has it reached your waist? It would be great to see a full length photo, from the back.
I’m 72 myself, have a decent head of hair, but sadly, my terminal length is several inches short of my “dream length”, which is waist length or longer. There are times that it does look tantalizingly close, but it’s probably just wishful thinking.
I am curious to know how old you are to sport such a fabulous mane, but if you’d rather not say, I fully understand. However, anyone who can grow super long hair, and I mean past waist length, after they have passed 60 is genetically blessed. Although I have the “keep my hair “ genes, I don’t have the “grow past waist length “ genes.

Hi(gh)!
Not from the back, but in profile - and tied back:

…I'm only halfway through with losing weight, I have to shed another 25 kilos! My middle third is still ridiculously fat…
See you in my swamp!
Yadgar
Excellent, Yadgar, looking good there, and decent thickness as well. Hopefully, you’ll be able to achieve waist length in the future, and keep up the good work. It looks as though you don’t have too far to go.
David
PS (I just noticed that you’re 56, going on 57, by scrolling down a bit to one of your earlier threads. Great hair for your age!)
Hi(gh)!
No, I'll never reach waist length, as my terminal length, which I reached already by 2005, is about mid-back!
See you in my swamp!
Yadgar
OK, Yadgar, thanks for explaining, but still a decent length. I probably reached terminal about 10 years ago, ⅔ down my back, but every once in a while, I could swear it’s grown a tiny bit longer, the faintest bit closer to my waist. It’s probably wishful thinking, though.
David
Hi Yadgar,
I find that you look better with a ponytail.
…still a fat old man! This HAS TO change!
A wonderful picture of you :)
Your hair is great and still healthy.
Looking good, Yadgar! Enjoy the swamp! I've become a creature of the high (pun intended) desert of New Mexico and Colorado, but my roots are in the swamps of Florida.
O.k., Colorado is quite a nice place to get high, at least a mile high if you're in Denver… but I myself stick to caffeine rather than THC!
And New Mexico has been compared to Afghanistan, scenery-wise… at least the northern part around Santa Fe!
<drinking my morning caffeine> Colorado is a nice place to get a mile high, among other things ;) Lots of long haired guys out here so that's also a bonus. Never been to Afghanistan, but it makes sense to me that the terrain would be similar - at least from the little bit I know. One thing that is nice is that the low humidity here allows my hair to lay more flat than it ever did when I lived in Florida. Makes the awkward stage a bit less awkward - but you are long past that stage!
