Hello everyone,
My apologies for seeming to monopolize the MLHH, but with so little activity, almost none, in fact, I’m just trying to post something to hopefully keep our community alive, and stop it from dying. It’s too bad that more guys can’t discover us, and keep us growing. However, with so many social media sites now having long hair sections for men, it’s hard to detract from them.
I recently made this video on YouTube, and posted it to Instagram as well, of me brushing my long hair. I recently switched to a new product, Purador ThintoThick, and am quite happy with it. My hair is quite thick for my age, and this video gives you some idea.

Cool video but I have to admit all that noise in the background is quite distracting.Sounds like your running some sort of business,machine shop, with the end of the work day siren blaring! LOL Aside from that I agree with your first comment regarding the continued light activity of the mlhh.After all the fantastic work Jesus Forain had done to update the site it was great in the beginning when we had a nice flurry of activity going.After that it seemed to come to a screeching halt but maybe it has to do with the summer season and guys on vacations and such.Not sure what activity levels are on longhair sites attached to facebook and such as possibly they are low as well.Sadly I feel a lot of our older longtime members have moved on and possibly don't even sport longhair anymore. Hard to say but when you think of it I first got active here way back in 2005/2006 so like 20 years ago as a lot can happen in that time.
Now onto the main topic here and that's your hair! From when you first began your journey til now you've achieved a fantastic mane for a guy your age. I'm sure that's very rare but then I'm sure more are out there in the shadows that we never hear from.I'm grateful for the hair I have as I approach my mid 60s.I feel blessed that I was able to keep long hair from back in my 20s all the way to present day.Not once did I cut it short after all those decades.I was very concerned in the early years as my employers probably weren't crazy about it especially back in the 1980s when I first breaking into my field of HVAC.Anyway this has gotten long but I had a lot to say this morning.Keep doing what your doing David and thank you for stepping up to the plate and supporting the new mlhh.Cheers

Hi Mark,
Thank you for your kind words, and I’ll give you an explanation of the noise in the background. I have a collection of about 30 clocks, and they can make quite a bit of noise when all ticking at once. I had to laugh at your “machine shop” comment. The siren like sound at the end is actually a tune that the large clock right behind me plays every hour. It’s called a trumpeter clock. They don’t bother me, and I get used to the sounds, and when I take my hearing aids out at night, they don’t keep me awake at all. I actually have a YouTube channel, Davids Clocks And Long Hair, which has a series of videos of most of the clocks in my collection, as well as about 10 long hair videos.
I’m quite pleased with my hair lately, maintaining decent density at age 73. Although I could never achieve waist length, at least it’s reasonably close to that.
Also, I’ve been concentrating on my beard more lately. It was always quite short, but over the last few months, I’ve been trying to grow and thicken it up more. There’s some older guys on Instagram who not only have great hair, but their beards are epic. I have no idea how far I’ll go, or even how long I’ll be able to grow it in the first place, but it’s an interesting new journey.
Like you, I wonder where all of our former members who had long hair in the past have gone. One person I really wonder about is Jason. He was totally dedicated to the long hair cause, and his son had long hair as well. I can’t even imagine him with short hair now. I’ve been unable to find him on Instagram, unless he has a private profile, and I’m not on Facebook, so if he’s on Facebook, I wouldn’t know it. Possibly you would know more, since I understand that you’re on Facebook.
Hopefully, activity will pick up here, but I’m not holding my breath for too long. This is a nice little site that feels like a little home, and I miss those old days when it was a beehive of activity.

I do remember you mentioning being a collector of old clocks in the past so I figured that's what was going on in the background but decided to have a little fun with it in my comments.LOL.It does seem quite loud but like you mentioned you get used to it and its just background noise at that point. It's great to have hobbies like that especially as we get older.Helps pass the time,literally in your case, but every piece has its own personality.
I think I may have an Instagram account so would have to look into that as if I do I never used it.Same with X, formally Twitter, as I may have created an account but never used it. I'm mainly on Facebook since I joined a few groups there and have utilized Marketplace to buy and sell things. I do know Jason is on Facebook and from what I recall he still has his long hair.Odd though why he's never returned to the new mlhh as he knew the changes were on the horizon. I really need to message him and see what's up and try and suggest he come back and post.I know Jesus sent him his login info once the new site went live.Maybe he missed that e mail which was sent months ago.
As for the beard I did the same thing your doing for awhile but being I wasn't good at shaping beards it was turning into a mountainman kinda look so I decided to shave it back awhile ago. Also it was such a mix of colors so I decided to henna it, while doing my hair, to make it all match up which actually worked quite well. So I still maintain some facial hair but its toned back quite a bit.
Hopefully the mlhh picks up more going into the fall season so we'll see.All we can do otherwise is try and promote it on other sites to like minded audiences. The site is so nice now it deserves more activity.Other than that hoping all is well with you as it would be cool to do another meetup even though I know that's difficult due to the distance.All the best my friend.Cheers.

It would be awesome if you have an Instagram account, and if you could find it, we could follow each other there, and connect. I’m slowly fitting in over there, after about 3 months, but it can be a rather intimidating place at times, even more so than Reddit, the other place where I post, mainly to the FierceFlow community.
That’s great that you’ve been in touch with Jason, and I hope that you can persuade him to update us here. He was always very supportive of me with my long hair, and the fact that I still have decent hair in my 70s. I’m glad to hear that he still has his long hair, and I assume that his son also has long hair.
I’m really interested in seeing how long a beard I’ll be able to grow, but I’m working on trying to achieve at least a 5 inch beard if I can. I’ve already invested in the usual beard care products, including beard shampoo, beard oil, beard cream, a comb, and a beard brush. I’m trying to achieve a full Gandalf look, lol.
It would be awesome to have a meet up again some day, and I’d love to do another road trip in the future. Sadly, that can’t be now, though, and although I shouldn’t get into politics, the current administration is extremely hostile to my country, and I just wouldn’t be comfortable visiting the way things are now, including the border crossing. About all I can say is that everyone in Canada will be watching the midterms carefully, hoping for a sign of change.

Hi David and Good Evening being its that time as I write this. Aside from Instagram, Reddfit, etc I try to limit my exposure on social media as it just gets to be too much bouncing around all those options so I stick with old reliable Facebook,mlhh and a couple others. In the last couple years Facebook has gotten better when they dialed back on the censorship that ran rampant during the height of the Covid years.Won't get into it here but I know of people who were kicked off Facebook for just expressing their opinions on hot button topics.
As for Jason he too has been on Facebook a long time and does post a lot of personal stuff which is how I know what's been going on with him over the years without even directly messaging him.All in all life has treated him well as his son advances through life towards adulthood.He's certainly an amazing father,husband, and person from all that I've seen posted.
As for the beard I feel that ship has sailed with me but did have fun with it by growing it out and coloring it with henna to match my hair.I'll maintain it to a degree but keeping it shorter as of now.
Finally I hear what your saying regarding traveling,especially over the border crossing into the US at this time in history.Without getting waaaaaaaay off topic here I truly believe we here in the USA are under “COG” or Continuity Of Government for a number of years.Most don't even know what that is.If I were to Google it I would have to scroll for awhile to find anything that came close to describing it.First hit that came close was on Encylopedia.com

Hi Mark,
I had no idea that you were on Reddit as well as the others, but I assume that your presence there is low, since I’ve never seen you. Right now, I’m finding that Instagram is taking far too much of my time, so adding Facebook to the mix would be more than I could handle. My YouTube channel is small, and has roughly 150 subscribers. I’ve gotten a few more since I started posting hair videos as well as videos of my clocks.
Somehow, I knew that Jason would be a great dad, and I know that he was always enormously proud of his son. I have the utmost respect for him, and was honoured to be a guest at his wedding, and meet him on two other occasions as well. If you have the chance to chat with him, be sure to say hi to him from me.
Regarding the political climate, I am concerned that the USA is turning into a one party dictatorship. I hope that doesn’t happen, but the recent censorship of the press really concerns me. If things do change, though, and yes, miracles can happen, I’d be delighted to visit the USA once again. It would be a pleasure to arrange another meetup should that happen.

To answer a question you asked me a little while ago, these days the only social media I use (apart from Youtube) is Reddit, and I enjoy seeing your posts over there, too :) Thanks for the ongoing inspiration!!
