What a bummer... my best friend, who started growing his hair two months earlier than myself and inspired me to grow mine, just gave up on his mission and cut it 1 day before school. I can't believe it, what a waste, but then i guess he was never as into it as myself. I for one cant wait to hear the reactions of my peers, itll be great. Even if theyre negative, i revel in any regognition of my hair being noticibly long. ^_^ One more day!
Perhaps your friend cut his hair because [unlike you] he was afraid of what his peers would say. I think it takes real guts to be a longhair - especially in this day and age. Good for you and let us know if your friends take notice.

That's not a bummer, "that is what usually happens".
Not very many people seem to be able to really stick it out, for various reasons, and you will see this over and over again. Do you yourself have the patience and dedication it will take to have "really long hair"? It's not a bad reflection on those who don't or can't, it's their choice and probably the best one for them. But if your choice for growing your hair is fueled by strong reasons then that is the best way to approach it.
