Hi,
I don`t think that black guys can`t really grow long hair.
There `s a drummer I know of who`s black and who`s got quite nice long hair hair without having fallen into the trap of dreadlocks.
On the pic he`s the one wearing the alien t-shirt
There's this African-American guy in my English class, that has really super long hair. He wears in different styles every time I've seen him, but his hair is almost down to his waist.
Is it just cornrowed or braided in different ways?
Don't disrespect the Nattee Dreads, Mon!
Or I won't be a sharin' my Ja' witcha bro.The Rev
....have an 'awkward' phase?!
Yes. It's called the "Tarantula Head Phase"
The Rev :)
.....WHew!...made me JUmP!
Hey, come on, black people don't have that many options with their hair type. I feel for 'em, I got the same problem.
But dreads can look cool, IF they are well taken care off. If anyone is familiar with the band Sevendust, the lead singer is black and has very nice, long dreads.
And the "tarantuala" stage doesn't look any worse than some white people's akward stages. And, its better than the very short fades that you see all too much.
And I thought that they wore afros!
That guy isn't black, sorry.
If you look close, his skin does appear darker. but this apparently was taken with an inexpensive snapshot camera that has poor exposure control, and it was trying to light up the dark background behind the subjects. A problem that can sometimes be fixed in the enlarger pending the film has enough lattitude.
If it was a digital picture...remember that these cameras have very limited lattitude an contrast range. A botched exposure can easily make an under or over exposed picture!...blacks can appear white...and whites can appear black just by playing with the settings!!

Black women grow their hair long, so why not black men? You can use a relaxer to soften the curls or change the texture altogether.
