i currently have a short hair style simply because i dont have the patience to let it grow long. my hair grows extremely slowly and i could never get past the aweful"in-between stage." i want a hair style that will minimize the appearance of having a big head and also emphasize the broadness of my sholders. so far having my hair really short and slicked down is the best alternative to having the long hair that i suspect would be the best. do you have any tips on what could make my hair grow faster or advice on whether or not long hair emphasizes broad shoulders and its really worth the bad growing in phase? thanks much

What about hair extention? You need not to grow your hair long and you will have the hairstyle you want.
Long hair will mean more bulk around your head, so it will make your head look bigger and your shoulders smaller in comparison. What I've found in general is that my long hair makes me look like a bigger but slimmer guy.
Long hair can of course be slicked down, particularly if pulled into a tail. You can have that look when you want and let your hair loose having another look when you want! During the awkward phase you may have to use something on your hair to slick it down, of course, since a pony tie won't work until your hair is long enough.
I feel like my long hair makes my whole upper body look bigger, while making the rest of me look a bit slimmer. As well, if I pull it into a tail, it makes my head look lots smaller than it does otherwise.
On that score, an emphatic yes! Long hair opens up to you all kinds of options!

i can't tell you whether you should grow your hair out... telling you that is the same as you telling me to cut mine. to make this decision for yourself, you need to consider what it would be like to have long hair; dealing with the ridicule of others, workplace discrimination, pointed questions from ignorant people... if you are highly self-conscious, then it may not be a very good idea. on the other hand, growing your hair out may test your character as well as enhance (?) your appearance. the key is not to respond to ignorance. don't dignify a bigot's boorish remarks.
how long hair makes your body look depends on what type of hair you have... is it thick & bushy? fine & straight? do you plan on tying it into a ponytail? bushy hair will make your shoulders appear smaller.
your hair will grow pretty much at a constant rate... the key is not to cut it... and beware of prudish stylists who want to 'trim your ends'... more times than i care to remember, a scissor-happy cutter deprived me of 6 inches of 'split ends'! it has taken me 7 years to grow mine to nearly belt length. the real key to growing it out: patience. vitamins will probably not affect your growth rate. if you have a deficiency, your better off changing what you eat as your body better metabolizes nutrients from food than synthesized chemicals engineered to enhance corporate profits more than your blood levels of vitamins.
i believe my hair length is worth the trouble. you can minimize the 'bad' phase by wearing a hat or bandana. good luck.

Having long hair is great and I beleive any man who's finds the idea appealing should give it a go. I've grown mine out 3 times and by far the best way it to wear it layered, gradually longer toward the back.
Then, when it's a your shoulders or longer, start trimming the bottom until your have a blunt cut.
Don't be so anxious the time it takes. Savor the weekly experience of noticing your hair is a little bit longer than it's ever been before.
Relax and watch it grow. It always will.
