At work, I wear my now shoulder-length hair in a 'tail. It looks much more professional and I am contending for a promotion.
However, I really don't like how it feels. I really can't wait to get in the car and take off the hair tie and let it all hang loose.
How do others feel who wear a ponytail?
Depends on my mood. Once in a while I wear it loose. But, usually I like to pull it back so it's not in my face. Sometimes in a tail, but I like to experiment with a variety of styles also. I would have to say that the half ponytail is my favorite. It is a little fancier than the regular tail. It keeps the hair out of my face. Yet, it still has the long and free look in the back. Oh yeah, and the girls love it!
Definitely wear a ponytail at work...kind of have to with the khaki pants and the like...but don't catch any grief at all for it...just trying to do my part to look a little bit professional. Also, (absolutely no questions asked) wear it in a ponytail while in the car - with the windows down and the sunroof open I would wreak my car if I didn't have it in a ponytail because I wouldn't be able to see anything but hair while I was driving. Also wear it in a ponytail while playing tennis - cooler that way and it stays out of my face. Any other time I will have it down...hanging out on the weekends, etc. I'm a big NFL fan and have noticed here recently that there are quite a few football players with hair hanging out the backs of their helmuts...mostly black players, but hopefully this will catch on to all of the players...white, green, yellow, blue...race doesn't matter to me...I'm just glad to see the hair hanging out of the back of the helmut...Kudos to these NFL players!!! Has anyone else noticed "long hairs in sports"?!
Have you ever looked at baseball?
Also, remember the variety of hairstyles at the WWF (oops getting sued by the World Wildlife Fund), I mean WWE. There was HillBilly Jim, Andre the Giant, Hulk (not another lawsuit, this time from Marvel Comics), I mean Hollywood Hogan, UnderTaker, Mick Foley, etc.

Undertaker used to have GREAT hair but he cut it short and now it looks kinda stupid
Hogan has SOME Long hair, LOL, whats left of it
Hillybilly Jim looked great, wonder what happened to him, i havent seen him on any Independent-circut shows recently
Hi,
You forgot about the awesome hairstyle of the ULTIMATE WARRIOR. And also Diesel, Razor Ramon, 123 kid, Texas Tornado, Mr Perfect, Yokozuna, BRET HART,..etc..Most of these guys have long hair.
too bad 1-2-3 Kid (X-Pac) is fired and in the NWA now
same goes for Mr.Perfect miss seeing them on national TV (can't get NWA in my area)
Kevin "Diesel" Nash has Great hair!
Ultimate Warrior was AWESOME, the hair combined with the gimmic and his face painted up like a native american going into battle was just awesome, also Shawn Michaels had great hair (liked it better when it was longer) and now Rob VanDam looks awesome, also Chris Jericho,Shannon Moore,Triple H and even Mike Awesome now that he's gotten rid of that HORRIBLE mullet he had in ECW
infact it was some of these guys that inspired me to be a longhair (but NOT mike awesome LOL)
Check out Edge and Christian too. At least the last time I saw them
they had some pretty awesome hair.
perhaps more athletes will experiment with longer length when more ladies recognize that long hair can complement an athletic physique.
Yes you are right. To think about it, when I was watching the wwf back in 1992, these wrestlers provided partial inspiration to me to grow long hair..yes I remember now.

Interesting topic. I just started in disbelief the first time I saw Mick Foley (Hardcore Icons "Mankind", Cactus Jack", and "Dude Love") come on television with a very buzzed head after retiring... Even in retirement, Foley was still able to shock people! Seriously though, I thought is was a great loss for him: His body's pretty much crippled, so shaving his head was like throwing away the one physical attribute that he could have walked away with. Although Mick's a pretty good looking guy (and I'm not one who really likes to pass judgement in terms of beauty), his body is scarred and burnt while his face has become somewhat "disfigured" by the loss of an ear and tooth (teeth?). Foley's hair seems to be the one part of his body that would've survived the stress of his rugged matches (Well, unless you factor in the times when he used to 'rip out' chunks of his hair to portray the character of Mankind during his most derranged phase).
Yokozuna had what appeared to be nice hair, but I remember it always being constricted in a bun. Anyway, I just thought I'd mention him since Yokozuna died awhile back.
A Yokozuna is a top-notch Sumo wrestler! Sumo wrestlers usually wear their hair in buns!
I leave it down all the time, and it is very comfortable, and I don't worry about it. Mine is past my shoulders now. Only time I change it is if it gets windy out side, and sometimes I have to be out side for my job. When it is windy I put on my knit hat, peolpe look at me funny, but it keeps it from geting tangled and not as damaging as a baseball cap type hat.
I guess I'll be the lone ranger and say I like mine in a tail most of
the time. But then my hair is very poofy and frizzy.
i prefer loose but i tie it back for work.
Like some others here, it depends on my mood.
If I am doing a lot of work and it gets intomy face and eyes...
then I am not too happy.
most of the time, loose. I like how it looks better than a ponytail, because my face is kinda round and with a tail my face looks like a big ol' moon pie. With my hair going straight down i tend to look a bit more like a native american, which is WAY cool in my opinion.
When it is warm and muggy, I will tie it back. But usually, I leave it hang long, loose, and free. I don't mind if it falls in my face; I'll just swipe my head if I want.
I hate pony tails. I grew it long to let it hang down.
I get hot easily, and I have seriously fine fly-away hair, so a tail is my preferred look most of the time. If I'm going out, or getting dressed up, though, I like to let it loose. Looks better that way.

Even though my hair is now long enough to tie a nice looking pony-tail(my hair is about 3" past my shoulder), I much prefer to leave it free. I love to feeling of it and whats really cool now is that I can fip it behind my shoulder and it kinda stays there! I do have to put it in a tail at work because of the nature of it and when driving my jeep with the top down, but otherwise I leave it free.
I prefer a ponytail- I think my hair looks and feels better that way. I also feel that in my case, as my hair looks very untidy loose, the tail looks as though I'm serious about growing it and it isn't just that I can't be bothered to cut it.
I seldom put my mane in a ponytail, other than when physical conditions mandate I do that to protect it. Then my psyche accepts that change in my appearance, but otherwise not. For example, I'll put it in a tail when hiking through rough brush (it snags!), and a tail keeps it out of my partner's face at night, keeping him from clutching at it in his sleep when it tickles his nose (ouch!).
Otherwise, I keep my hair loose. I like to see it out of the corners of my eyes at a deep subconscious emotional level, and I instantly miss it if it disappears, as a tail or braid would cause.
Also, I have curly hair that hangs down nicely when loose, probably because curly hair naturally grows to hang with its curls together. In a tail though, its waves are thrown out of phase, and my curls don't stay together anymore. My hair just fans outward in a very wide but thinning-out upside-down V shape from the base of the tie, and honestly it doesn't look good that way. So loose my mane will remain!
Guess I prefer wearing it in a tail. Seems to look better that way, IMO. Especially since I'm usually kilted at the same time.
