I have read about how the alkalinity of shampoo and hard water can be to blame for dry and frizzy hair, and that a final rinse of water mixed with a small amount of mild acid such as vinegar or lemon juice (vinegar preffered since lemon juice can have a bleaching effect) should be used. Has anyone done this and gotten any noticable effect from it? I'd try it tonight except that I dont have any vinegar now. But it would be nice to get rid of the frizz and bigness of dry hair especially the day after its washed and on humid days.
I'm not sure about frizz. That is usually caused by dry hair or humid air. Vinegar does, however, help to line up the cuticle of the hair, making it smoother.
HOW do you NEUTRALIZE THAT?!
What do you mean by "help to line up the cuticle of the hair"? Thanks.
The outside of the hair shaft has scale-like features. Vinegar helps to keep these lying flat. Kind of like closing a pine cone. Cold water does the same thing.
