Does anyone here use curlers? My mom has been setting my hair in curlers a few times a week for the last months and the results are great!!! I really like the results the sets give me. First I really had second thoughts about getting my hair set but now I am used to it and it feels great!!! I'm thinking of getting a perm, anyone has any experience with getting a perm? Please let me know!!!

I had my hair set once at a GM Longhair salon. I liked the results, but I have no idea how to do it myself.
Does your mom set your hair while it's wet? Or are you talking hot rollers?
Do you happen to have a pic you could post?
Hi Mick,
Yes, my mom always sets my hair when it is wet. We normally use brush rollers, because they give a good grip and roll easier. It depends a bit on my mood and time schedule how I let my hair dry: if I havent got much time, I use my moms dryer, but when I have time, I prefer to dry by air. Then we set my hair in the morning, I walk around the house in curlers all day, and take the curlers out in the evening so when I go out, I have a good hairstyle! On occasions we've set my hair at night and I even slept in curlers but that's not really relaxed because you feel the curlers all night. Although I have to say you get used to sleeping in curlers once you've done it more.
Unfortunately I cant post a pic because I dont have a digital camera or scanner.
You said you had your hair set in a salon, how did that go? How were the reactions of the other people in the salon? What curlers did you get your hair set in?

Thomas,
You don;t need a scanner or digital camera. Kinkos and other print shops will scan them for you or let you use their scanner. Also, some Kinkos and some supermarket chains have a Kodak Photo Booth which lets you scan picks quickly and easily. If having your hair set in curlers is so routine for you and you go out with your hair curled, I am sure you won't mind posting a picture. But i have to say, I am skeptical of people that make these claims on this board. They are the ones that always have an excuse not to post a picture. They are simply getting their nut off with some long hair fantasy.
I hope I am wrong. It would be greta to see you rpicture if this is true.
Terry,
Scanning is indeed an option. But I'm not going to use it!! I'm used to getting my hair set, I'm comfortable with it, my friends know I set my hair but that's enough for me. My mom and friends are very easy on the subject, but I know not everybody is that broadthinking. Let's face the fact: a guy in curlers is unusual. Strange. Some people get offended by it. I'm not going to push the limit.
I know for myself that my story is a true one, and if you don't believe that, that's OK with me. I hope you respect my choice not to post a picture. If you don't, just stop reading this thread.
Thomas
You seem overly upset about what I wrote. Why is that? You also seem very emphatic about not using a scanner. Yes, guys in curlers is unusual, but I think more people like it than you realize. But again, I don't believe your story. A computer is too easy to hide behind. Sorry.
Terry
Hi,
no problem to understand that point of view:
I sometimes like to wear my hair up in a bun and otherwise.
But I also don't dare sharing pictures of styles like this with everyone.
It's otherwise, if I know, people are really openminded or maybe also like trying styles that are not regulary.
Maybe you - or other people like sharing pictures like that:
I've got a Site that is password-protectet and only for people, who are also involved.
Just send one picture of you with your special style, and so you get the password and you get to see other pictures with "free", maybe usually feminin styles, and you can upload your photos and share them - only to other people, who are also in it.

To answer your question....
I'd been hearing about the George Michael's Long Hair Salons for a while on other long hair boards. I wanted to just go and get one of the famous GM conditioning treatments.
I went to the Enchantress Salon (www.enchantress.com) near Cleveland. During my conditioning treatment, they cut two customer's hair. I was under a heat cap, but not in rollers at that time. After the treatment, my hair was set on red GM rollers (the second largest they have), but no customers were in the salon at the time (I was kind of glad about that). Roller setting is the preferred way to dry long hair in the GM process. I'll have to admit that I liked the results, but I don't think I could do it myself.
They have other longhaired male clients, which also have their hair dried on rollers (I know because I asked.)
How curly does your hair turn out?
