I've been growing my hair since mid-July. The only thing I've done up to this day was get rid of my sideburns. However, my father forced me to trim it today. He's okay with me growing it long, but he wouldn't let me explain why I didn't want to get it trimmed unntil /after/ the deed had been done. The biggest pisser is that he said he wanted my hair to look nice (i.e. not shaggy) because we were going on vacation to Flordia this weekend. What the hell is up with that!? I had to get my hair trimmed because I was going to be around a bunch of people I don't even know!? ARG! To make matters worse, it not only took a month off, but it looks horrid to me. I'm going to end up weraing a hat during the entire vacation. Which I could have done with my longer, more "shaggier" hair.
Ah, parents... can't live with them...
er... um... yeah.
Since I've also been growing from mid-July, how long was yours before you got the trim?
Also, one thing your Dad may want to keep in mind...although he said it's ok for you to get long hair, the fact that he doesn't want it shaggy is going to cause one hell of a conflict when you get to the awkward stage! Good luck!
Yeah. I explained to him why I didn't want to get a trim, afterwards, and he agreed that he wouldn't make me do it again.
Make sure you get it in writing. Especially since parents tend to have senior moments and forget what they said.
In my case, not getting everything in writing has been an advantage... After all, I'm probably about six weeks away from having the back as long as it was before I got trimmed in April, and, this time, my bangs are below my chin (about 1.5" below), as opposed to being just below my mouth.

I thought you had something else trimmed...
The only 'good' thing about having hair trimmed is that it doesn't hurt...
...or does it?!
It does. Emotionally.
