I told Edgecution in a post below that I was thinking about shaving the lower half of my undercut the same as his, so I went through with it earlier tonight. I am satisfied with it. My wife really likes and I am wondering what you guys think. I have a combination pic below showing before and after pics plus a back side pic also:

I'm indecisive. It looks good either way.
You know, there was one thing that drove me to shave underneath. It was the fact that everytime I went to gather up all the long hair for a ponytail, I kept grabbing those inch long hairs underneath and it was beginning to get on my nerves. It's a lot easier now without them in my way. May be a lame reason, but hey, I'm happy with it. Peace!!!
Just my opinion, but In general I dont like the contrast of the longer tied back hair with the closely shaved hair. However, youre happy with it and thats all that matters.

If you did it, that your choice, but I would do it. Seems to be more mainstream.
I think it looks a lot better this way. I'll probably get a shaved undercut too when my hair is as long as yours.

Yea, I'd say it feels better, and I can also gather up all the long hair for a ponytail now without getting all that shorter hair in the way. Peace!!!!!
Do keep us informed of your thoughts/experiences concerning what it feels like, what it looks like, maintenance, etc. as it begins to grow out.

To me, it looks much better with the shave...could you post a pic with it down. I would like to see how much of that thickness you were complaining about went away. BTW, are you still wearing the hat at work? I would think you would be able to do without it at this stage.
The undercut shave makes you look a bit like a redneck, though you have great hair.
