Here's a column about a couple doctors in conservative Omaha, Nebraska growing their hair out.
The story says the reason they are doing it is to donate it to Locks of Love, but my fervent hope is that they decide they like it so much that they don't cut it. I would definitely go to one of these doctors!
The article says:
"Dr. Benjamin Ryder and Dr. Jimmy Khandalavala may be creeping toward 50, but their long hair is not an attempt to reclaim their carefree youth."
Ya, I'm sure that they actually had long hair when they were young. Shua, as if! But they wanted you to know it's usually just a stupid youthful thing to do.
----------------------
"Occasionally, Cason said, surplus hair is sold to pay for manufacturing the hairpieces."
Occasionally? Somebody educate this guy! He's really bought their line of bull.
----------------------
"The doctors' patients don't seem to mind. Ryder explains his hair to patients right away (before they start wondering what has happened to him)."
Holy geek! One of those "I've-got-a-cause-that-I'm-really-really-excited-about-and-I'll-act-like-someone-completely-different-but-make-sure-to-explain-it-to-everyone-I-meet-so-they-don't-think-that-I'm-actually-that-way" kind of people. My oh my, what WOULD the patients think?
I would hope that they would cut it. It would be very selfish if they didn't. Maybe then they grow it back out; but they are doing it in the first place for charity, so it's only right. What exactly is "Locks of Love"?
On this board we don't believe that growing your hair long is a "selfish" thing to do...in any circumstance!
Strange that you haven't heard of Locks of Love yet but most of the people on this board hate that business for the crap they get from other people because they aren't donating it to them...not to mention the line of total B.S. that Locks of Love puts out about how it does business.
I'm not saying growing hair is selfish, and as I said I don't know what Locks of Love is all about. All I'm saying is if these two doctors publicly announce that they're going to grow their hair out for some sort of charity or whatever it is, and then decide to keep it for themselves, I just think there's something wrong there.
There is nothing wrong with that at all, it's their hair and their decision...from begining to end. There are no children just waiting for the hair from these guys, it doesn't work that way despite what supporters of Locks of Love want you to believe.
Check out my website to learn about Locks of Love.
I miss Nebraska. I agree with you that they should decide to keep their hair.
