All,
I have signed up with a new host. The new host offers about 17 times the disk space, and a faster connection to the internet for the same price that I'm paying now. It will take me a while to transfer the site over. At some point, I will turn off posting capabilities here until the move is complete, at which time you will post to the new site. Meanwhile, a temporary list is provided here (do not bookmark it). Feel free to browse around and let me know if it's generally faster/slower/the same for you.
You will see an old version of the message board. Don't let that fool you. You will not be able to post. However, you should get a general idea of how fast browsing through the messages will eventually be.
Once the move is complete, all URLs will remain the same as they are now. You will not need to change any bookmarks.
i don't see too much difference in download times.... one interesting thing i've observed with the current site: i don't seem to be able to post a message from http://the-light.com/mens/wwwboard.html; the user input areas at the bottom of the page are not downloading. this was not the case with the new site- fortunately... and as you can plainly see, i am able to respond to existing posts. thank you for your diligent work maintaining this wwwboard & site.

Well just as long as it's not worse. It is much faster to FTP to, so updating the site will be less of a pain for me.
This sometimes happens if you have a transmission problem and your cache gets populated with a bad version of the file. Try clearing out your disk and memory cache and reload. Let me know if it didn't solve the problem and which browser/OS combination you have. The board got corrupted a while back, and I may not have done a complete job of fixing it.
Holding the "shift" key down when asking for a reload tells your browser you really mean it, and it will often go for a more complete reload if you do that. Since that is easier than emptying your cache, if you get an incomplete or corrupted copy of a file, you might want to try that first.

actually i've tried the 'shift' trick but to no avail... i guess it's house cleaning time.... thanx for the suggestions, tho

...and clearing my cache has done nothing to solve the problem... i still can't post except to reply. it's obvious that some people are able to... i wonder if my browser is experiencing problems... hmmm
in any case my computer seems to be truncating the wwwboard progressively further from the end as messages get added. oh well.
Can you tell me what browser and OS you are using? I'd like to try to duplicate the problem. What is the very last part of the page that you see?
browser: netscape navigator 3.0
