hey just wondering, I see many people on here talking like conditioner was a necessity if you wanted good looking hair, and that you would wreck your hair if you shampooed it without using conditioner. yet, to my experience conditioners only seem to make a very small difference, that being making the hair a bit more greasy which is the last thing I need since my hair is very thick and gets greasy quickly. I use some leave in conditioner which my mom uses. she tells me though that I don't need to use conditioner at all. I've never noticed any damage on my hair when not using it, but I wanna be sure that I don't damage it in the long run. I'm probably gonna shampoo my hair about 4-5 times a week.
Coniditioners help prevent knotting and keep moisture in the follicle. I need to use it, otherwise my hair is an absolute mess and completely impossible to comb through.
I use Suave. It's cheap (about $.94/bottle), but works wonders.
My hair is waist-length, but I don't use more than a couple of quarter-sizes full of either shampoo or conditioner.
Absolutely! I think it's a MUST. I'm also a longhair who believes you don't need to spend huge money on conditioner. I buy the same stuff...Suave!
One thing the tipped me off to that was the fact that, while comparing the ingrediants of various high-priced brands with less expensive brands, I noticed there was nary a difference in any of them. The hype on the more expensive brands sounded more convincing, but the ingrediants, for the most part, are identical to those of even Suave. I've used nothing but Suave for months now, and have saved a bundle in both Shampoo and Conditioner. I can buy a bottle of each for about $3.00. I also use Suave styling gel (Spritz), and zero hairspray.
Aussie MOIST Conditioner is quite cheap too...
The main thing I've noticed is conditioner makes my hair much softer and easier to comb through... but as far as moisture doesn't seem to be of much help. I'd say use it once in a while but you don't have to use it every time you wash. I think your hair needs a break
even from conditioner once in a while... I don't use it because my hair is still short. I wash once or twice a week.
I need to condition my hair every time I wash it or it's a rat's nest which can get damaged by trying to brush it out.
My hair can't take a break from conditioners and I don't think that hair needs a break from them. Depends on what you use to some extent. I used to use Salon Selectives conditioner and my hair would get limp, bunched up and oil-like after a few months but now I use Aussie and that never happens.
Maybe someone with short(er) hair can get away with taking a break from conditioner but if you are going to really long hair then conditioner is your true friend.
I don't use conditioner, mainly because I'm too cheap to buy it, but partly because I don't believe it is necessary. I only wash my hair once every 5-6 days so the oils get a chance to build up and do their stuff.
