Just wanted to vent since it's taking so damn long for this hair to grow! I know I need patience but feel like screaming sometimes! Are there any others out there feeling the same way? If so, how long have you been growing? I've been growing for about 4 months now (yes, I know my expectations are high) and my hair is about half way over my ear, half way down my neck, and the front is to my eye brows.
that sounds more like a sigh of relief...
....try ARRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!
Ok, that's better! :)
I'm with ya', dude. Patience is a hard thing at times when it comes to hair growth. I try not to think too much about it, but sometimes it's all there is to think about, man. My bangs have finally reached my chin, but as far as the full picture is concerned, I still have quiet a ways to go. Once I get to where I can finally get all my hair comfortably into a ponytail where nothing can fall out of the tie, I will be completely satisfied from there on out. I only have about two to four months and I should be able to do that, but man, it's taking forever! Good Luck, my friend, and hang in there.
As always, nice to hear from ya Treyn. Hope all is well with you. The last pictures I saw of you are great! Wish we were closer...I'd ask you to get the families together some afternoon!
I know how you feel, I went through the same thing. I got more obsessive than I'd care to admit waiting for my hair to get long enough to pull into a pony tail. Progress was so slow.
It's sort of a watched pot never boils thing.
Although my hair was making steady progress, I could never detect it day to day. But every once in a while I would look in the mirror and be startled by the small, but welcome, cumulative progress.
I would use my fingers (widths) - about a 1/2 inch - to forcast where I would be in 1, 2, 3, or 4 months. By laying my fingers on my neck and then shoulders, I could plot where my hair would be for the next big holiday.
But I would also use my fingers to measure up my hair to see where I was 1-4 months ago. That was more satisfying.
That's too funny! I do that same finger-measurement thing too! Haha!
Know how you feel, think we have all been thru this. Seems like it takes FOREVER!
I think I started growing in Mar. 2000. Had a good start, but had several minimal trims early on to even the length. Went thru a nasty awkward stage, tried some hair control products, but never really liked them or the look. Tho they did help for a bit went it went wacko.
Started tying it back a bit ago, but some would slip out. Can't recall when it became much easier to tie back. This summer I guess, after a little over a year. I work outside some in the wind, so that is always a problem, even now.
Since it got so I could put it in a ponytail I have done that almost all the time. I like it that way and like the look. But now that it is a bit longer, I do enjoy letting it just flow sometimes.
Everyone's taste and experience is different. I had longish hair in the 70's. Not as long as it is today tho.
My wife one day said...why not let your hair grow long? Cool, great, something that appealed to me. I'm not tied up to long hair as my identity, but I'll be damned if I'm going to let society decide what is apropo. I liked the idea, I'm 47 now and have a good head of hair, many friends are going bald! I got it, I'm gonna grow it!
To each his own! That should be longhairs motto IMO. I'm not wrapped up in my identity as being a longhair, but right now in my life...that's me and that's what I want to be.
Turns out I get very little comments and almost no resistance in small town IL. I sympathize with those who do, but what are these idiots about? Why on Earth would the length of my hair be anyone else's concern?
I haven't always liked my wife's hair syles, she has beautiful red hair and used to have it short at one time. Her choice, but now she has it long and beautiful. I'm thankful for her taking me out of the mainstream thinking and encouraging me to grow.
If she ever wants me to get it cut, that is her problem, cause I like it this way and I'm gonna keep on growing. The call is mine, right now it is gonna grow and grow. She repects that, as surprisingly my parents do to (who have nothing to say about it anyway, but it's kinda cool).
Sorry FIT to go on and on, I seldom post, just wanted to share my own experience. Don't worry about the hair, just take care of it. Before you know it it you will be amazed and proud!
Keep on keeping on,
T
Hi T,
I'm glad you gave me some of your background. I don't think I've had the chance to talk to you yet. Congrats on your hair length, and the amount you still have! And, of course, thanks for the words...
