I've got really long hair right now, and have had as long as I can remember. I've got it almost to my waist right now, but it's WAY too long. I'd like to cut it to shoulderish length. It's VERY thick.. and kinda a brownish/blondish color. I'm straight, and don't want the "DAMN THAT'S GAY" look, you know? Real confused. Post pictures/Ideas here please.
...Because heaven knows that'd be the worst of all possible worlds.
*sigh*
Some days, the record is more broken than others.
no matter how long ya send an ass to school, it's still an ass.
How sad anyone would think "long Hair" equates to "Gay" Even more sad that you feel that strongly in that concept, that you would cut your hair to avoid others thinking it.
Since when does having long hair relate to being gay??? Since when
did hair have an effect on what you are or how it relates to your
personlity??? I think that if you except that someone is calling
you gay, then I guess thats up to you. But having long hair doesn't
mean you are gay or anything else. I guess I just don't get it.
I mean if you are what you are how is chaing hair length or color
or anything else about yourself going to change what you are, right.
I know what you mean, it's not that you think only gay people have long hair, but society has that very preconcieved notion and there are certain looks that will lead to people labeling you as "gay". Most gay people shoot back at us for saying that sort of stuff, they'll say "oh... well what the hell is wrong with being gay!?". And I know you didn't mean to imply that there is anything wrong with the lifestyle, but the fact remains, we're straight and it's not OUR lifestyle, and with society having such a preconcieved mind set, it's hard to find a partner if your hair looks feminine or you come off as gay. The world is a harsh place and it's unfortunate that so many people think longhair = gay, but they do. However, there are plenty of cool long looks even the blindest sheep among us won't deem as "gay", just experiment. Look through some men's magazines, a ton of awesome long haired looks in the media these days, it's very popular among models and the macho men mags always pick very masculine yet cool looks. Again, i want to make it clear, i think there's absolutley nothing wrong with the gay life style, but it's difficult to live a straight life style with so many people accussing you of being "in the closet". I wish things were differen't, but they aren't. Anyways, keep it long dude, never give in!
Try these...
Have you ever given thought to trying to change them?
There's nothing wrong with being straight, either. ;-) It just strikes me that maybe, instead of saying, 'That's the way it is,' a better response might be, 'You'll be blazing a trail, but others will follow.'
If you don't like the way something is, get off your duff and fix it!
I dont have the power to change something this big. I dont even think a media personality would have that kind of power, sometimes you have to accept things that are bigger than you.
I can't see there's any connection between having long hair and being gay - most gay men Seem to have short hair. That was an argument used in the 60's by the more conformist older generation of the time.
As for long hair being effeminate, the same could be said of any man who shaves, since nature intended us to have beards!
cheers, Barry
It's not that i'm afraid people will think it, and i don't want to cut it because people may or may not think it. Having said that, I need a job to support my new car. I live near Temecula, and people will NOT hire you if you have long hair. Sad but true. I have nothing against gay people, but same issue. People relate long hair to being gay, and gay people are discriminated against. It may be illegal, and immoral, but it happens everyday.
Anyways, I found a place that will hire me if i cut it to shoulder length, and keep it maintained. At this point, I need the job, and long hair is not worth the hassle.
Once again, the gay lifestyle is nothing to be ashamed of, and shouldn't be shunned as it is. However, being straight, and mistaken for gay is hard, and embarassing.
Sorry for the chaotic organization, it's late and i'm tired.. but I figured I should probably post a reply.
