After the recent debacle regarding my views on long hair on men, I've decided to refrain from responding to posts that make any reference to suggestion some form of legal protection against discrimination of men with long hair. It has been made clearly evident to me that hair is more tha just a fashion statement for many of you. I apologize for insinuating otherwise.
While my own views about hair (especially my own) will never change, I will heretofore respect the feelings and opinions of others and simply ignore any further posts regarding the matter.
It's been years since I was last the subject of a flame war (the last one was on FidoNet, over the practical application of warp technology on Star Trek), and I'd like to consider the flames of this one effectively extinguished.
For the record, my opinion on warp technology argued that traveling faster than the speed of light is theoretically impossible, and that we would have to figure out a way to "bend" space before we're capable of traveling to distance galaxies. I was chastised and lambasted for not being a visionary and accused of not being a "true" Star Trek fan.
Thank you for your time.
Apology accepted.
I too apologize for my overzealous attitude. I'm pretty passionate about this issue.
As Treyn says...right or wrong, keep it long!
well thats good but I actually agreed with you. I believe that the people on EVERY message board are usually rather obsessed with whatever it may be the board is about (I don't mean this in a bad way, it's just true) I'm pretty sure we all love long hair here on this board and see it as something very important (I do) but in reality, there's much more to life than hair. (I still wouldn't cut it no matter what... see I'm pretty obsessed myself!) But if you go to any other message board you will notice that the people LOVE whatever it is they are talking about and feel just as strongly.
Excuse me, but what does this have anything to do with my thread? Sorry if I sounded rude, but I would just like some combing tips.
There's really not much to it. The main thing to watch out for is damage. You want to make sure you're gentle, it may sound corny but trust me, you'll regret it if you aren't. Also, use a wide tooth comb, this will ease through your hair and won't damage it. I've also heard that combing your hair while it's wet can cause damage, but i've always disregarding that little tid bit of advice as it's an incredible inconvenience to comb your hair when its dry, especially when your hair is as thick as mine and still relatively short (7 inches). Hope that helps and good luck... keep it long... never give in!
Thank you. I have been combing my hair when it's wet, but I do use a wide tooth comb. So, I shouldn't do this anymore?
Thank you, Bill. I did not know that.
Go ahead and comb it wet, just be gentle and don't tear through snags. It's all in the finesse! Peace!!!!!
Thanks, Treyn. This morning, I dried my hair off a bit so it was only a little wet. I think I will do that from now and on.
When two people post at EXACTLY the same time, one message is lost, and the other appears in both places. Thereafter, any followups to that message or threaded under it will appear in both places.
Of course, in one of the threads, any posted message will not belong. :-)
It's all good, everything's behind.
There's no reason the obsessed and the not-so-obsessed can't coexist.
Agreed.
I understand what you meant, but really, when you touch a touchy subject like religion, politics, or hair in this case, people are very passionate. When I believe in something or really really want something, I fight for it against my own family. Obviously, hair is not to kill for, and yes, I've done it against my family's desires, however, you can't wander about being soft. You can surely be kind, polite, tolerant and self centered, but we can't sit back, while MANY of us have been victims of long hair discrimination.
I'm a man, and thus not a femminist, I actually oppose many of their views, but they fight for their rights. If they had sit back and knit, they wouldn't have the right to vote.
Do you guys want to have a 6 figure income with hair to your butts? Then either cut it, wear a wig on Sundays, or fight for it!!!
That doesn't follow. There is a male teacher in California who got a feminist of the year award a few years back. Feminism has more to do with the philosophy of the person than his/her sex.
We would need to warp time.
Everyone here has a right to post their opinion. If a poster only wants a particular response, then maybe they should not post here. But if one truely wants the opinion of free-thinking individuals, by all means post a question or statement. I would NEVER tell someone not to post, as long as they were being respectful.
Those people who told Nyghtfall to go away are the ones who might want to find another forum.
By the way, I think part of the discrimination problem stems from men who have long hair that looks like heck. The ones that don't trim their hair and just don't take care of it in general. Nyghtfall is an example of a guy who takes care of his hair. Maybe that's because he views it more as fashion. The men who "have long hair just to have long hair" no matter how horrible it looks are the ones who are not helping the cause.
I trust einstein more than the trekkies.
it would be theoretically impossible for any object with more than zero mass to travel at the speed of light (let alone faster) since it would obtain infinite mass at that speed.
it would also be practically impossible to build spaceships capable of traveling at even half the speed of light.
I found this while checking out some UFO sites. Not sure how plausible it is, but it's kinda cool to think about. It's more about propulsion than travelling at the speed of light.
