Another odd combing question

  This is something that I have been wondering about for a while. After My hair is wet and it all hangs down even in my eyes it looks longer. But when I comb it all back it seems shorter. Are there any differnt ways I could comb my hair. My hair is thick and somewhat straight so it usually stays in place when it dries. Anyone have any combing tips?
