I just read through the pigtails thread in the archives, and I have to reopen the discussion just because this is my *absolute* favorite way to wear my hair.
How many people (guys and girls) wear their hair in pigtails, and what kind exactly? Include details about where on the head (maybe in reference to the ears, or "corners" of the head perhaps), what is used to secure them (elastics, scuncies, barrettes, ribbons, etc.), what is done with them (braided, curled, looped, etc.), where the hair is parted, or anything else that might be important.
I'll include my list in a later post.
Thanks to everybody who responds!

When discussing about pigtails awhile back, someone mentioned Mickey Mouse ears - I know it is in reference to the way the hair is worn - but how do you do them and what should they look like (other than Mickey's ears).
The basic idea, I think, is to do two regular pigtails, then coil them into buns the way you would a regular ponytail. I haven't had the guts to do this in public... Besides, my hair is too long to do multiple buns because they end up like a mile high instead of low and flat like I think they're supposed to. (There isn't enough hair to make a large base so the hair goes up instead of around.)
One thing I have done (which some female friends think is extremely cute) is to take regular pigtails while they're wet and knot them at the base. (Twist the hair around itself and pull through.) If the hair won't stay, you can use a bobby pin or two to hold it in place, but it looks really neat, I think. (And I have done that in public.)
I've had this discussion at work yesterday with co-workers. We argued all day as to what pigtails and ponytails are. I believe pigtails are when you divide your hair down the middle and have two "tails" on the sides of your head. A ponytail is when you take all the hair and pull it to the back of your head.
Someone else believes a pigtail is when you braide the ponytail and it's only called a pigtail because it's braided. I don't think something is called a pigtail because it's braided. If you braide your ponytail or pigtail it's just that but braided.
