i'm finally able to get it in a ponytail! (yay!)
not an impressive one at all but atleast it's something
only problem is it hurts quite a bit if i leave it like that, it feels like the hair in the front is being pulled
anyone know of a solution for this?
and could leaving it like that cause problems?
Maybe you're pulling too tightly?
Try smoothing your hair gently toward the back.
Then when you put on the band or hair tie
make sure you do it carefully & gently.
Sometimes you can gently pull the hair out of the band
if it's too tightly bound.
CONGRATULATIONS, BY THE WAY!!!
i gather that the hair in the front is what "finally" reaches the tail... it tells me that you're pulling it hard to get it into the tie & the only way it'll stay is if you tie it tight. i suggest you wait a couple months before tying it all back... wear a ball cap or bandana intil the front hairs can COMFORTABLY reach the tie then your problem should go away.
How long have you been growing it for? Can you provide pics?
Make sure that you are using a hair friendly tie. "Hair Hoisery" by Scunchie is a good choice. It won't snag hairs and has no metal parts to break hairs. Also, only wrap the tie as many times as are necessary to hold your tail. Extra wraps just add stress. Finally, make sure you tie your hair back when it is DRY. Pulling wet hair back into a tail can and will cause MAJOR DAMAGE!
Congrats!
Maybe you should wait maybe a month to try with the front strands in because too much tension can break them. And yeah, that nasty tight feeling so that you feel that if you blink you'll snap hairs out of their roots? Definitely wait a bit. Still tie it back, so it'll be less annoying, but not as tightly.
*eagerly awaits Beltane /03 so he'll have HIS anniversary of Hair Tied Backedness*
