Is there a strong correlation between men who have long hair also having beards? I dont wear any facial hair, but almost every guy I know who has long hair also has a moustache, goatee or beard. Is there a reason for that?
Well, it's one foolproof way to make sure no one thinks you're a girl! It's amazing how far even a little tuft of facial hair will carry you in the male direction on the male-female continuum. (((grin)))
Long hair actually is not a sex-linked marker at all, despite some folks' misconception to the contrary. Facial hair is.

I have had a moustache for 25 years, long hair for almost the same time (I had to cut it short two times for military service in 1980 and 1987, then I let it grow again) and beard since 1992. My reasons for: hair: I like it long and I wouldn't cut it for any reason; moustache and beard: I feel more comfortable by not having to shave every day.
It happens fairly often: I drive on the freeway, some guy who drives faster than me sees my long hair from behind while overtaking me, slows down to take a better look, then speeds again when he sees my beard... :-)
