im a manual worker. not because thats what i wanted in life, but because thats what was expected of me. i have short hair. not because thats what i wanted in life, but because thats what was expected of me. well guess what? i decided at the start of 2002 to get back into education, i go to night classes twice a week, where im doin really well, and i know im on the way to a good job. now, in 2003, im planning to grow my hair! this may sound trivial to some, but to me its about stepping away from what others expected from me, and what the 16 year old me accepted from life. im 24 now, and finally confident enough to say, "this is me!" im not aiming for ultra long hair, or to break records, but just to be... me. hope to have a few chats with you all along the way, im sure a few of you have faced all that i am about to.
Best reason for doing it, man. As my hair is growing (9 months now), I'm starting to feel more like myself than I can remember feeling in a while.
Good luck.
on making ALL the decisions you have been making so far!!!
Instead of lust accepting the things Life handed you in the 1st place...
you went ahead and made new choices for yourSelf...
This is Good News...not only for you but also for those who know you.
Growing your hair(for all the 'right' reasons) is an additional
'statement' to the World...announcing that YoU are taking charge!
Great! & Good luck!
that SHOULD have been just....NOT 'lust'...
Congratulations on making such an important decision. Living in rural West Virginia, I was able to see on a daily basis the end results of compromise and mediocrity (not saying that you exhibit either!). Many of my teachers and family members had settled into careers based on what others expected of them, only to realize their mistakes when there were families at stake. I'm glad that you have decided for yourself the path that you will take at a young enough age to make the change.
As for the decision to grow your hair, this board will be one of your greatest allies. Many of the people around here have been an incredible help to me in the last six months to a year of growing my hair. This is a good place for grooming tips, figuring out what to expect, and, most of all, for comraderie and wonderful moral support.
