Are there any styles of facial hair that look better with long hair than other styles?
Perhaps a different way to ask it: Is there any form of facial hair that looks bad with long hair?

I don't have a beard anymore because my facial skin was allergic
to it...
and I even broke out in rashes from the friction.
Having said that, I think bears will ALWAYS look good with long hair.
A GOATee can also be a spectacular addition...depending on the man
and his face...
even just a mustache can add something BUT...
I don't care for those Abraham Lincoln half-a-goatee things...
you know, NO mustache--just the bottom half.

Actually you were quite accurate in a way.
A "Bear" is a big, hairy, bearded gay man. While most have short hair, like the majority of gay men, there are a few longhaired ones out there. So beards and bears do go together.
Incidentally, although a bear, and proudly bearded myself, I do like the look of a moustache with long hair. Partly because so few longaired men have moustaches and partly because moustaches are often associated with short hair - military, police etc. A waist-length mane on a man who, at first glance does not look like the long-haired type, I find quite intriguing.
