The first pic was taken during my first attempt at growing my hair long in July '99. I had a severe undercut(everything but the top was shaved) and the ends were totally destroyed from bleaching it a year and a half before(at chin lenghth) and then dying it back. I ended up trimming it to a little above shoulder length and kept it trimmed for about a year. Then I ended up cutting it to an inch below chin length in June '00 and have been growing it since with only several minor trims. It is now one length(underneath and all) and this picture was taken about a month ago. Just disregard the knife in the pic, the pic was taken as a joke and it's the most recent one I have so it's the one I decided to use. I'd say it's quite an improvement from my first attempt and I now finally feel like a true longhair. As you can tell by the first pic, I wasn't too into washing my hair but now I take great care of it and it feels great.
he..he...had me wondering for a minute!
Yeah, now it looks MUCH thicker and fuller. Great!
Do you ever wear it in a Tail?
lol you look tight! =)
Actually, I wear it in a tail everyday for work. I work in a Deli. The thing is, I like to wear it down more because it's actually more uncontrollable in a ponytail because of how thick it is.
I wish I had good pics of my hair during the dreaded akward stage but I don't unfortunately. I went throuh a lot of hell and grief in order to grow my hair long. With how thick my hair is, it looked atrocious in the akward stage. It was also wavy which oddly has disappeared and it is perfectly straight now.
I think I'm starting to see my hair go through the wavy-straight transition just a little bit. When did you start to notice it?
Oh, it was a long time. My akward phase lasted until my hair was chin length and then started straightnening out. It's hard to remember exactly though because I went through my akward stage when I was 14/15 and I'm now 20.
Glad you made it through that phase!
Wow, looks much better without the undercut. I'm currently in the process of growing out my undercut...how long would you say it took you to get the hair underneath to be all one length with the rest of your hair?
Well, when I got it cut the last time, the hair underneath was about 2 inches long. The hair on the top was about an inch past chin length. After about a year and a half worth of growth and several trims to the hair on top, the hair underneath caught up completely.
