I have a question for my fellow men that I also posted to the women's board. How do you handle your hair when you sleep at night? I leave it loose, because I tried leaving the pony tail in and it makes that "knob" at the back of my neck and I can't sleep very well. I figured tying it back would keep it from tangling at night, but I just went with loose.
I'm a big fan of the "down" thing myself when sleeping. It usually falls over the head of the bed, though, and I may have to rethink
this... It's actually getting long enough to touch the floor! Sometimes, just to keep it out of the way, I pile it on top of my head and use something to keep it there. It's really the only place where the hair won't bother you no matter how you toss and turn at night. At the same time, though, it doesn't feel as free as when it's just down.

I loosen the ponytail enough that the "knob" easily moves to the side; I find that less annoying than sleeping with it loose.

hmmm.... i don't have too much of a morning tangle problem... i usually keep it loose, when i turn in i lay it either side of my chest (so i'm not lying on it). i've noticed that longer hair tends not to get 'molded' overnight... a problem i had when i had short hair and bi-level (short on top & sides; long in back).
Try what women do: put it up. Pull your hair up in a loose ponytail at the top of your head. Then roll the ponytail on 3-4 soft foam rollers. the result is a slightly wavy full style that requires nothing but a brushout in the a.m.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys! I'll try them out and see how they work for me.
Hi!! I am a woman, I hope you don't mind me posting here. What I do, because I cannot stand wearing my hair down when I sleep (its waist length), is put it up in a high ponytail at the top of my head. I know someone else already mentioned this, but I would like to reiterate what a good idea it is. It is very comfortable. Also, I put it in a bun sometimes and when I take it down in the morning it has a lot of body. If you put your hair up. slightly damp in either a bun or pony tail, this really adds body too. I only recommend this in warmer weather though. I've done this in cooler weather and have ended up with gnarly cold.
