FINALLY just saw Lord Of The Rings: the two towers tonight and i have to say i liked it even better then the first
also great to see a movie with ALL longhairs in it
only thing that seems a bit odd is i would think that a lot of fans of lord of the rings would have long hair
themselves. i went to a fairly large screening and there was not a single longhair in the theatre, most everyone in there were teenagers with either buzzcuts or the usual short hair, and a few shaved heads
any other LOTR fans on here notice it either way?

So is there ANY possibility that these 'shorthairs' will be
INFLUENCED in any way by films like 'Lord of the Rings'?
Maybe if there are any TRU Longhairs in the audience, these films
might just 'do the trick'... ;)
I was downtown Christmas weekend and lots of people, particularly young people, but I noticed to my surprise some of the guys with longish hair (over collar) far cry from long hair but with these movies like Lord of the Rings, there is only one way to go - growing out their hair. I think gradually it is going to happen. I think 2003 should be interesting for the growth of long hairs. To be fair I thought a shave head for 10 years was great. But having long hair is even better, so we have to give them room to let it grow. The only problem I have is I have never heard anyone talk on the bus or in malls about long hair or growing their hair long - so maybe I am wrong about the immediate future for long hairs!
I think it depends on when you go. I went to the midnight screening on opening day and saw several guys with long hair, some in costume as well. On Friday, I used the free pass included with the FOTR five-disc set to see the film again and didn't see any guys with long hair, but the theater was practically empty, so it probably doesn't mean much.
Watching the film for a second time, I paid more attention to the hair and costumes. It's a shame that almost all of the nice looking hair is wigs.
My wife and I went to it and most of the people had short hair. My wife was probably the longest haired person there since it is waist length.
I also thought the first one was better but The Two Towers was still very good.
I didn't think to look around the first time I saw it. I'll make sure to take note next time. :) My best guy friend, who's a LotR fan, has long hair (but he wasn't with me at the time, so..), and my brother, also a fan, has longish hair at the moment.
I love the long hair in LotR. It's too bad it's all wigs (at least they're good wigs), but it's still pretty. :) (though Aragorn could stand to wash his...)
-Erin, starting to become less of a lurker.. *gasp*
I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan and currently have short hair, although I had long hair when FOTR was released and am growing it back out. Anyway, I think that most of the people you saw are just your casual movie-goers, now hardcore LOTR fans. If you grouped a whole bunch of hardcore fans together, you'd probably see a fairly large amount of the guys have long hair. And I bet many of those serious fans saw it the first day it came out. Just what I think.
I've seen in twice in Central London and once in a cinema on the outskirts of London (I'm a bit of a LOTR fanatic) and I haven't really noticed many longhairs at all. I really think that a lot of younger fans may be encouraged to grow their hair a bit longer due to the film. I think all the male actors look infinitely better with their long hair.
