Maybe I'm the only one who didn't know about these, but I just found some great elastic hair bands yesterday that don't look feminine. The brand is "Claire's", and I found them in a couple of women's accessories shops. They are *much* better than the Goody brand elastic bands you find in grocery & drug stores.
They weren't expensive -- $2.50 for packs of 6.
Click the link below to see more pictures of them. Unfortunately, my cheap digital camera doesn't really do them justice.
You can locate the nearest Claire's or The Icing at http://www.claires.com/locate/index.html.

I've just stumbled onto this message board while
searching for elastic bands that I could order through
the internet. Unfortunately I haven't found any sites
that sell them. Pretty amazing since I used all known
search engines possible and spent more time than I wish
to admit.
I started to grow my hair last February 1997. I started with
a 2" buzz cut. The first 12-14 months were the worst. I wore
a baseball cap for about half a year because there was no other
way to manage it. Currently it is about 2" below my chin and I
wear it behind my ears, making it very easy to control.
I can also form a ponytail, which is pretty useful during
hot and humid days ( I live in NYC ). Another thing that
I do is use sunglasses as an alternative to feminine hairbands.
It looks very good and masculine.
Anyway, I plan to check out this board in the future and
any help with my search for good quality elastic bands on
the internet would be greatly appreciated. TIA
Believe it or not, the best source I've found for hair bands is Wal Mart and Target. They both have a large variety (at least locally) of good quality bands.
Thanks Victor,
I picked up some Vidal Sassoon bands at Wal-Mart today that I hadn't seen before.
They didn't have any nearly as nice as the Claire's bands, though. :-)

Thanks for the tip, I was getting pretty tired of those cheepies and was wondering where to go...well i went to Clairs, and came away with two different sets! I luv the way they feel! They got other stuff too...might have to go back and investigate further. Thanks again!
.....there were lots of pre teen girls and teen girls ...but thats ok...i cheated...i took my pre teen daughter with me and she helped me pick mine out! LOL...anyway, if you dont have a pre-teen daughter, im sure the girls in there wont bite... :)

The only thing about Claire's is the overwheming sense that you are about to become a "Clueless-esque" teenage girl... or at least be overrun by them.
On the other hand... I am a still-technically-teenage boy... hmmmmm...
I'll think I'll be visiting Claire's next time I see a mall.
Yes, you have to patiently elbow your way through a lot of teenage and pre-teen female fashion victims there, and endure a few odd looks.
At my age (33), that's hardly my idea of a thrill, but I'm sure it would be enjoyable for a teenage guy who appreciates fashion victimization in women. :-)
Well, okay, I'm sure they aren't *all* fashion victims. :-)

Well, I took your advice and checked them out. They are indeed much better quality. The variety of styles was amazing. It was a little strange, though, being the only guy in a store seething with prepubescent females...
