Just wondering if anyone here had tried going from dark hair to blond. I am in the process of growing out my bangs and most of my top hair again.
Bruce Gallagher did the transformation to blond for me 2 weeks ago. I'm getting used to the look but am already trying to figure out what to do when the roots grow out. I don't think I'll stay blond but am looking for a transition back to my natural color perhaps with a dark reddish tinge.
If you want to check out how my coloring came out, here are some pics:
I bleached my hair the last time it was long, almost 7 years ago. It was fun to do once, but it was ultimately the reason why I cut my hair (so damaged).
To be frank, I prefer your natural color. It complements your eyes and complexion better, I think, although the mahogany color was also quite striking.
If I didn't live on the West Coast, I'd consider some of his other services. The photography on your site alone is worth consideration.
Yeah, blond is cool for a while. I liked it for about a few months, but then I realized I wanted my natural color back. Nature chooses best, in my opinion.
I was born blonde, but as I grew up, my hair gradually became darker until it became its present shade of "dishwater blonde", though it's not quite dark enough to truly be considered brown. I used a product called "Sun-In", which gradually lightens your hair. Its makers recommend going out in the sun after spraying it on (hence the name), or using a blow-dryer for the color to take. It turned my hair a rather cool shade of light reddish-blonde. If your hair is dark blonde to light brown, it will make your hair blonde; if it is darker, you can expect more of a copper color. I was quite pleased with the results, as the color was natural-looking. However, I think I will make my own "Sun-In" from now on, as it isn't much more than water, hydrogen peroxide, and lemon juice!
I was once going to dye my hair a reddish-blonde, and I'm SO glad I used the dye on a test swatch of my hair, because it turned the hair sample the ugliest shade of pink-auburn I've ever seen. I would've looked like The Judds on acid!
To be frank, I prefer your natural color; but, to each his own. My taste is by no means reliable. :-)
I will say that it's fun to be blonde at least once in your life. I tried it out the last time I had long hair--which was ultimately the reason I ended up cutting it. So damaged.
Do your own thing, and f*ck 'em if anyone razzes you.

I think the blond look is great--very contemporary, It's good that you have tried it. I, too, was wondering what you would do when the roots start growing out. Since you had the color done just over 2 weeks ago they should be about 1/4", which should just be visible. I think if I did this I would keep it for long enough to really see what it was like. What does your wife think of it?
