What's the best way to measure hair? Do you just measure from the scalp to the the end or what? Also what't the best part to measure, the front, sides,or back?
You pluck a hair from your head and hold it to a ruler, genius.

You measure it by the length that you want it. Shoulder lenth (one length all around) is different than a layered cut that is shoulder length.
If you're just starting to let it grow out and are worried about what people will say go to a stylist and start with a layered cut. Let that get longer and go from there.
Don't worry about length until it is as long as you want it--and that is any length that you want!
Does everybody agree?
There is one method which seems to be universal (George Micheal long hair salons, long hair forums, etc.).
You measure from the front hairline, up and over your head, and down to the longest point in the back.
If your hair is basically all one length.
