Been growing for about a year now. People keep telling me I need to get my hair trimmed because it's all ratty on the ends, lots of split ends too. I've read somewhere that you should forget trims when growing your hair out becuase it's just gonna slow the whole process down. Odds are some liklely the person cutting your hair will probably take off much more than you would like. Should I go with the maintinance cut?
You're in an unfortunate situation. I'd say provided you're ends aren't too nappy to not get a trim just yet. Since you say it's been a year it's probably long enough to wait about six more months before you get a trim. Remember to be firm with the person cutting your hair as well, they will take too much off if you don't.

you could get a trim.....it WILL slow down your prgress but it might just make it easier on your appearence and you might like it better. When I get MY hair trimmed I go to a "College of Hair" which is for people that have gone through hair school and just need experience, but don't worry, their teacher is behind them the WHOLE time and make sure you get exactly what you want. I was very impressed.
hope this helped you some
I was always firm and they only cut off a microscopic amount at the ends for me.
Resist for as long as you can bear it... and I still say that letting trustworthy relatives trim your hair is a safer bet.
