Fantastic site, guys... Do any of you also grow long nails as well as hair?

Well I'm not trying to grow my nails *long* but I did ding up my
right thumbnail and it looks hideous (all bloody underneath). (WOW -
I just noticed that you can actually see it in my recent progress
picture). I am interested in ways to make my damaged nail grow out
faster. There is supposed to be a supplement from GNC that supports
nails and hair but it is hard to tell if it actually makes them grow
faster or just stronger or if it even works at all.
When I was a teenager in the 70s I grew the nail on my pinkie. There
was some spiritual meaning behind it but essentially it bugged my
mother. I remember being in a movie theatre one day and I caught it
on something and it snapped clean off. From that day on I have had a
lot of sympathy for anyone who breaks a nail!

I let the nails on my right hand, as well as my left thumb (all of them when I'm lazy) grow out, because I prefer using my nails for fingerpicking guitar. Besides, I think it looks kinda cool.

I usually cut my nails once a month so they get quite long but I have to cut them eventually - a job that usually takes about 15-20 minutes!! As a synthesist (keyboard player) it gets increasingly difficult to operate the control panels if my nails are too long. I don't cut them really short though. They have their uses and look quite good - give the ends of your fingers a better shape.
