O.K< Im at work and three (yes THREE!!) long haired girls said that I shouldn't put gel in my hair cause i will end up bald. They weren;t kidding, they were actually quite serious. I said "Buh??" and they said something about no oxygen getting at hair or scalp, buildup then falling out, in that order! Im freaked i use lots of gel but do wash it out and keep my hair nice and clean. Old wives tail. Cause i thought baldness was genetic??? WTF. Please help. Shout out to the 5 monthers out there!! :)
The order seems wrong to me. Should it not be buildup first, then no oxygen, then hair falling out? Second, it's not true. when I had short hair I used gel everyday for years, and always had a thick head of hair. Girls don't know as much about hair as many guys think.
through the gel cause it gets its oxygen from the blood...NOT the air.
Anyway, I've been using all kinds of gels for years with
NO PROBLEMS and my hair is not suffocating
People that purposely make their hair dirty eventually loose it all. It's probably already too late for you since you've decided to live as a grease monkey so I suggest just keep using gel for the five or so years that you have hair left.
I think they were teasing you! Seriously - many women put all kinds of goop in their hair; gel, mousse, hairspray...when was the last time you saw a bald girl? Yes, there are some ingredients that can and might damage your hair to the point of breakage (alcohol, silicones, there may be others), so be prudent in the kind of stuff you put on, but there are plenty of good gels without alcohol or silicone to use, and whatever the ingredients, your hair won't fall out from it.
