ive been growing my hair two years now and face a pretty annoying problem.i dyed my hair black every two months for the first year of growth but after i noticed it was destroying my hair i decided to stop. now im left with about 6 inches of black hair, and 6 inches of brown hair.i came so close to dying it black again but decided not to as i really want my natural colour to grow out. any suggestions?
Dye it back to your natural color
Dying from black to a lighter color is very hard on your hair.... it has to be bleached first. since you said your hair was already damaged i dont think bleaching and then dying would be a good idea. Maybe there is something a specialist can do, but it's proably costly.
someone mentioned getting the black stripped out, but im not sure if that'd work seeing as i dyed it so much...and i really dont want to cut it off because ive grown emotionally attached to it lol i suppose i could try dying it brown again, and if it doesnt work out. well...im screwed :)
This is not true. Just as you can dye dark brown to lighter brown or even blonde, you can dye balck to brown. This requires no bleaching or anything else. All you need is the hair color.
Like Bill said...just color it your normal hair color and consider it a lesson learned.
Yeah I did the exact same thing once after two years of growth. My hair started to get really damaged as well. I cut all the black hair off and started over. I think you can dye black as long as you condition it properly... i think i neglected to do that. I was considering dying black again but i think i will hold off on that now.
I'd suggest getting a one inch trim every two months so that the black hair gets cut off while the natural hair grows in its place. Just a thought.
Ya, just get regular trims to keep it looking good and slowly the black will disappear. No need to rush it, just live with and consider that to be good practice at learning to have hair on a long term basis (long hair).
