Does anyone know of any stories where ones dad and grandad have both lost their hair and the son hasnt.or vice versa???????
course =) i hear people talking about hair loss "skipping a generation" all the time
I once heard that the first son usually gets his hair genes from the mothers side. From what i've seen so far (from friends and family) this seems to be true. So if your grandpa on you mothers side is bald, your fate is surely sealed, but then again, all this anit-bald stuff is really progressing.
I am a living counter-example to the so-called rule "you take after your maternal grandfather". At 40 I have a full head of hair with no signs of thinning (see my recent progress pictures). Premature baldness is rampant on my mother's side of the family. My maternal grandfather was completely bald by 30. My two male uncles had very thin hair. One was bald by his 50s. Several male cousins are prematurely bald. I don't know much about my father's side of the family but his kin must have good hair! I believe that baldness works like any other inherited trait. It depends on what set of genes you are dealt.
