For your convenience, I've created a jumping off point of all hair-related sites. Included is a board for adding your own links.
Are web-page frames really neccessary?
I think frameless pages are easier to design. When viewing pages on the web, I prefer frameless pages because I don't have to worry about the pages I'm viewing getting balled up in a very small portion of my web browser's display.
Certainly not. However, I thought this method would be convenient and unobtrusive. Without frames, there are basically two options.
1) Use a single window and force the user to return back several each time (s)he wants a new page.
2) Use two separate windows, which I think is just as problematic as frames.
Can you think of another option?
If the links go to your pages, another option may be to put an index at the bottom of the pages. Some web sites have pages with text links such as "Return to index" or "Return to main" each with a hyper links back to the index or main page. Some pages use gif images that look like arrows or buttons on a tape recorder with links going "back", "forward" or to "top"/"main" page.
When linking to someone else's pages without frames, I don't know if there are other options than the two: (1) single window (using the back button to return to the index page) and (2) two separate windows (closing the new window to return to the index page).
I guess any option is OK. The hyperboard message system used hear is one of my favorites because it allows me to use the whole browser window to view the postings. When using Netscape, if I have to go back several pages, I select the menu "Go" and click on one of a list of the previous pages I viewed.
