Just wondering how you guys go about drying your hair after washing?
I've heard that blow drying damages the hair so I only wash my hair around once a week (or even get it wet for that matter) because where I live it is far too cold to wait for it to dry itself so blow drying is a must.
Any other people with the same problem and any tips?
i just let it dry naturally.. sorry i cant say something else but thats what i do.. i wouldnt blow dry it to be honest with you because i dont like how hair "sets" when its blow dryed.. i prefer it to just dry naturally. :|
Wash it in the evening, then leave it down till you go to bed, and it should get almost dry enough. I put it in a ponytail to sleep with after washing, and i use several hairbands along the length of the ponytail, to stop it from frizzing.
I don't know your sleep pattern, but i wash about 9pm, finish about 10ish, then have about 3hours till i go to bed. This is ample time for it to dry imho.
I just tried this the other week, and it worked perfectly. My hair was really good the next morning, so i've done it twice since then, getting great results. Perhaps this is a common way of washing, but i'd never really considered it before. I only watch tele, use computer, or do homework at that time of evening, so it's the perfect time to let my hair dry.
'Blow drying damages hair' is an old wives tale - I have been washing/ blow drying my hair every day for two years and my hair is in beautiful condition
Blow drying shouldn't damage the hair unless you use a hot setting and point it at the same area on your head for rediculous amounts of time. Using the coolest setting (even that blue 'cold shot' button some have) and moving the dryer around shouldnt cause any problems.
The hot setting is fine however as you state it's important to move the dryer too! (curling irons damage hair though)
Try an ionic hairdryer.
