I have hair which is all one length, and comes down to about the bottom of my shirt collar. I've been using a blow dryer and brush to dry and style it, but I found that using rollers is easier and gives a better result. I got the largest rollers I could, green velcro ones. (A little nervously, I went into a drugstore and bought rollers, but no one seemed to care.) I comb my hair back and use three of them to roll up my hair in the back when it is just a little damp. Then I dry it more it with the blow dryer, and leave the rollers in while I finish getting ready in the morning. The hair comes out smooth, with just a little curl at the ends.
If you're having problems with hair at that awkward length between short and long enough for a good ponytail, give large rollers a try. I guess it may seem feminine to some people, but if your hair is long enough, they seem to be good styling tool, especially the large ones, which mostly make hair smooth.
Is it very common for guys to use rollers when their hair gets longer? I'd be interested in comments other guys have about using them.

I have often wondered this too. I have just-past-shoulder-length hair, naturally curly, and would love an easier way of wearing it smooth other than gooping it up with a bunch of straightening product and using a blow dryer.
Any comments?

Why be afraid of rollers. I could never have gotten from the short stage to the long if I had not used rollers, not to curl my hair, but to keep it from being too curly. Now I do not use rollers oftren because my hair is long enough to pull back but I would not be without this tool.

Doug;
Welcome to the club. There many guys who love to get their hair set on rollers. I have been doing it for about 25 years. My hair is about your length or maybe a little longer; almost shoulder length. I get a roller set almost every week end at beauty salons in my area. I have never encountered any ridicule. I just ask for what I want and am usually happly accomodated. I like the way it feels as well as looks after a good set.
By the way, you might want to look at rollermainia.com sometime.
