My hair is now mid back length, however, I foolishly had a trim last October which has seriously hindered my hairs progress.
The trim entailed getting the front being trimed shorter and the sides being left longer but gradually getting shorter the closer to the frontthey were.
Should I get the back and sides cut the same length? as the sides and front are really straggly.
Or should I leave it and hope for the best?
N.B the front is chin length.

Leave it as is. I don't think that's a bad looking cut. Just let it grow.
I don't think what you did was a foolish mistake. It looks natural.
