Mmmkay, I've been gone for a few days now, and I know you've missed me *so* very much. Well, fear not, I'm not dead (Yet, but I'm sure I came pretty close yesterday.). Anyways, I got all sick, and I decided to be a whiner about it and stay in bed, and be all melodramatic so people would bring me stuff and be nice to me. (Gotta get something out of it.) If I remember correctly, having a fever makes hair grow faster, due to increased bloodflow to the head. However, while settling down at a toasty 103, it had the opposite effect on my mindset.
The past couple of days were the first times I've had doubts about keeping my hair. Only 'cause it was getting to be a real pain in the arse. I got the feeling that my hair wasn't doing anything to cool me off while I lie (lay?) in bed, certain I wasn't going to make it through the night. But I did. And then, after 2 days of turning from one side to the other in a desperate attempt to get comfortable, all while sweat dripped down my face and into my hair, like some sort of self-cooking rotisserie, my hair wasn't in the best condition. It was all piled on top of my head, and matted down on the sides. (Think Marge Simpson here, or, to a lesser extent, Gerald from "Hey Arnold".)
It took a lot to get the tangles out, but that's what turned my opinion around. First off, it's the first time I've had tangles in my hair, and second, the hairs that came out (and there were a lot) were way longer than I'd thought they were.
So now I'm back (sort of, I'm still trying to not die) and I've caught what you might call my second wind of inspiration.
It's great to see the board carrying on in my abscence. I can't imagine how hard it must have been, but I can assure you that I don't plan on leaving you. You are all my children.
Well, I'm gonna go ahead and pack up my ego and head back to bed.
Over 'n Out Good Buddys.
PS How many people here think Rokker and Santiago should have a deathmatch? The winner gets to have the last say in any hair supplement arguments on this board from here 'til it ceases to be, and the loser - well, I guess the loser just dies.
I can identify with you man. Just finished two weeks with the flu.
For the first week I figured I was gonna die so why shower and wash
my hair? Besides I didn't have the strength anyway so it was a major
hair mass. But after I started the slow climb back than I got it back
under control. Its nice to be alive! Get well soon!
im just getting over a week long cold myself. although i don't have the luxury of lying in bed (i have 2 jobs) i definitely DID want to die. I was sicker then a dog working 8-12 hrs a day. not fun. Although i did manage to pull off a few good hair days, although im sure i looked friggin contagious. what was i saying again?????..........whatever. GO PATRIOTS!
Working 2 jobs while working sick?! That's got to be the WORST.
Where did you ever find the courage and strength?!!!
...like some sort of self-cooking rotisserie...
lol, that's good. Hope you're recovering swiftly.
Well, I hope you feel better. It's funny because I JUST started getting tangles myself! It actually felt like I hit a milestone! Also, when wet, the hair in front goes down to my mouth and the hair on the sides of my head covers my ears. When my hair is dry, I look like that guy in That 70's show! Haha! Hang in there!
I can certainly relate to hair inconveniences while sick. Or maybe not quite 'sick', just broken. Broke my wrist in the fall of last year and was in a cast for about two months. Hair care was, to say the least, not easy. That's when I started using scrucnhies, 'cause they were easier for other people to put on and take off without yanking hairs out. Ouch! Glad you made it through.
Glad you are feeling better.
I think that 'having doubts' during a stressful period (such as the flu)...
is a good *test* of whether or not your are truly a longhair at *heart*...
My worst period was during a hot summer during an awkward phase...
but somehow, I got through it.
Good Luck
