As the regular visitors may already now I have a big problem with oily hair and because I have no time for washing it every day in the morning (I have to if I want to keep it in good condition) I need a solution.
Now I had the idea to buzz my head, so I don´t have to treat my scalp with shampoo and when my hair grows back the situation may improve. What´s your opinion?
Get used to wearing a hat! I honestly don't think buzzing will help. If your chemistry is geared for excessive scalp oils, then that's just how it is. Excessive oils is actually a good thing for the health of your hair. It protects the hair as it gets moved down the shafts. How far along are you at this point to be considering a buzz, anyway?. Kind of extreme in my opinion. Like I said, I don't think it will solve the oily problem. Consider yourself lucky, some people have excessively dry scalps. I would rather have yours for the health of my hair. Less damage and all. Good Luck, but don't buzz, that's just simply counter productive. Peace!
My ichy, flakey scalp situation unexpectedly cleared up since I grew my hair. Why? I'm not sure but I am using a better quality shampoo, using cooler water, and combing my hair a lot more than previously. The reason I point this out is that if you are serious about growing your hair you will have to try a *lot* of different things to solve the oily hair problem. Here are a couple I can think of:
- Brush your hair every morning. This could distribute oil better and let some of it dry out.
- Change shampoo. Perhaps you are using something too harsh and it is drying your scalp, causing it to produce too much oil. Or perhaps your current product is not strong enough and leaves too much oil.
- Change or avoid conditioner. Maybe your conditioner is putting too much oil in your hair.
- Change how you dry your hair. Air dry, towel dry, blow dry. These remove increasing quantities of hair oil. If you aren't removing enough you will need more but if you are removing too much and causing your scalp to overproduce you will need a gentler method of drying.
I'm no expert on oily hair so my point is to keep trying. There is a solution to your difficulty.
maybe using a dandruff shampoo would help. even if you don't have dandruff, the shampoo is very strong and will help dry up the oil glands on your scalp. anyway shaving your head wont change anything at all.
The only solutions to your problem are:
a) wash it every day (like i do)
b) use a shampoo for frequent washing and oily roots (then you might get away with washing every other day)
good luck.
As your hair gets longer and longer, it will absorb more and more of the oil. The oil production will not change as a result of hair length. But oil absorbtion will.
