To anyone around the one year stage:
I have fairly curly hair, and its been a damn long road growing it out. Its been a year or so now, and the other day I decided that a little trim wouldn't hurt. and I was right! my hair is now actually manageable, and now it will grow out perfectly - no unevenness, split ends, etc.
I highly reccommend getting a trim after a year or so. It makes things a lot easier and doesn't rally affect progress that much. Just get the sides and back trimmed, and leave the top relatively untouched (except for evenness corrections) and you'll be lookin good!
hmmmm...good advice. Having curly-ish hair myself, i agree, it is a long road. Im starting my seventh month and it feels like my hair isn't even growing anymore. haha, infact, it feels like its shorter now then it was 2 months ago. hehe. How long is your hair now??? That would be interesting to know and might give me a heads up on what to expect. How short was it when you started?? It feels like in 5 months (my one year mark) I STILL won't have what people consider long hair. Aghh! What was SUPPOSED to be a congratulatory post has turned into a snivelling whine fest. :)Anyway, Im trying to love the process, if i had 5 more inches THEN I WOULD be content with the waiting game. btw, congrats.

You're right. At the one year mark, it isn't yet long hair. I'm just past one year now (less the trim) and its definately not as long as I want it yet, but its starting to look better day by day. I'm sure that within 6 months (hopefully mid-summer) it will be at a good length. My hair was very short when I started, maybe about an inch all around. I didn't even know my hair was so wavy/curly, I love it.
Once you get to a year, the waiting game is nearly over... at 7 months I felt the exact same way you do :)
Best,
Colin
I did the same thing and was very happy about the result. I have straight hair and basically had it cut straight across...I lost about three-four inches on the back, but it looks so much better and will now grow out more evenly.
