Awhile ago I asked people what precautions they might take when swimming in pools of high chlorine concentration. I would now like to know if any of you take the same, if any, precautions when swimming at the beach. I imagine that although most beach water can't be bennificial to one's hair, it surely can't be any worse than chlorine-ridden pool water (Well, unless you bathe in the Thames or find some place where water still exists in Chernobyl). To my recollection, I've never seen anyone wear a swim cap to the beach, although I have seen a remote few wearing them to pools.
Swim caps are really more for keeping your hair dry (or for competition swimming, to make you more aerodynamic). Don't worry about it man, your hair will be fine. Trust me. Just wash it afterwards. :)
Prolonged exposure to salt water and/or sun might warrant putting some of your favorite moisturizer in your hair--and leaving it there. Repeat as necessary.
Considering the similarity between intracellular fluids and seawater, and considering hair is manufactured by such cells, I'm not sure what the theory is behind any notion that seawater is bad for hair.
